Any method can be questioned. Would a rap over the knuckles or a few words from the coach be enough to ensure all the players adhere to the standards? As it is we are a club in serious need of a highly disciplined squad hellbent on becoming successful. It’ll be mainly up to the leadership group to ensure we’re a positive & cohesive squad. And we will have guys who can do that this year.We are coming off 3 spoons. We need to IMPROVE relative to our competition in 2025. I can’t see how holding players accountable for not meeting club standards is a problem
No one is advocating that they are not held accountable. Its the method Im questioning.
Coming of 3 spoons, a positive and cohesive squad culture and mentality is more important than ever.
of course a rap on the knuckles wouldnt work, but flogging them in fat club will and guess what? That is what will happen anyway. The Contract breaches wont make as much impact as flogging them in fat club and will be counter productive.
Anyway, I dont disagree with everyone here saying something needs to be done about setting standards to be followed. Disagree with the method as Ive stated but its a positive that the club has addressed it I guess. I think Ive flogged this enough.
Our Teams have been unfit or not as fit as other team for ages
This explains the fade out in games.
We need a hard edge and this is very important
Then the person issuing the breach notices should be someone who looks and acts like they also have "standards", awareness and credibility in the modern game. Like, it should come from Marshall.I can't see how issuing breaches is terrible for morale and culture?
I'd say what's terrible for morale and culture is allowing 5 players to avoid consequences for not doing the right thing by themselves and teammates... and would think that there's be plenty of players who have done the right thing during off season that would be very supportive.
Recent media pics of Richardson are embarrassing. Any warning from him seems just transactional; not motivating or inspiring of a different attitude of players IMO. Forget Richo the messiah. It's Richo the messier.

I can't agree with this take at all.
I see no issue with Richo dealing with the players. His health has nothing to do with it.

Richo should hold everyone to account including Marshall. Richo is the one who has to deal with the managers etc of the players. If there is a breach of a contract item (standards etc) he is the one who should be dealing with it.
I have absolutely no facts to back this up, but I strongly suspect Sullivan will be one of the 5. I genuinely think this is tactical and cynical.

Brent Read has said it is players we want to keep.

Whilst I am blindly and baselessly speculating, in the most recent pics from training there are about 5 players wearing white singlets whilst everyone else is wearing gold and tbh they do appear to be the less svelte. Notably these include Heath Mason (who looks huge but not necessarily fat) and Luke L.
@tiger5150 in the past white singlets have meant players are carrying an injury
