Putting Pole in prop rotation. I don’t mind it, Bird has spent a lot of time at 5/8 and could be a good link man with Galvin and Luai.

I'm concerned that Bird just doesn't have the size to do some dirty hit ups, and when the lock makes a carry it's often at a critical time in the set... a good hit up can either create a front foot play or if not successful will put the team on the back foot and under pressure.
The rest of Bird's game is probably suited to 13 though.
I agree but also would depend how they use him. Think he’d share the role with another player but only guessing.I'm concerned that Bird just doesn't have the size to do some dirty hit ups, and when the lock makes a carry it's often at a critical time in the set... a good hit up can either create a front foot play or if not successful will put the team on the back foot and under pressure.

I think he's potentially a very good #13 at this stage of his career. Just needs to get his conditioning right for big mins in the middle (easier said than done obviously).
Said it all along. Best position for him. He’ll tighten up the middle in defence and has good skills in attack.Jack Bird has confirmed the plan is for him to play at lock next season (Telegraph)
