I wouldn’t be surprised if I’ve moved on and we get Olakuatu . It’s interesting that Samuela is considered a long term middle Ala Blore . It means we have roster spots on our edges .
If Matamua has a good pre season I could see a pack of ;

Klemmer

Api

Stef

Ola/Ice

bateman

matamua

Blore /Fainu

Twal /James

Pole / Mansfield / Tumeth

TDS /Simpkin

It’s even more interesting when AD comes back , whether he plays centre or lock , or even edge back rower .
his time in the halves is over outside of injuries / form issues .
I think Simpkin will be swapped with an outside back from the eels . Dunster  is the name that keeps getting thrown around .

@lestronge really hope we hold onto Ice… will Staines and Seyfarth be in the lineup somewhere?

I liked the look of Tupou in the centres. I'd play him there but we desperately need another centre. Rumours around Melbourne want to move on Olam, i'd snap him up immediately.

I'd re-sign Staines and have him on one wing. Go to market for the other one (no idea who but a pot plant from bunnings would be an upgrade on Nofo).

I would like to see Matamua given a chance at lock.

Bench no clue other than Pole definitely being there. Probably bench forwards an area we may need to improve.

Of our current squad I think we’ll see the following line up, a couple of spots up for grabs though:

  1. Bula
  2. Staines (hopefully we re-sign him!)
  3. Tupou
  4. To’a (his spot to lose)
  5. ??
  6. Sullivan
  7. Sezer
  8. Stef
  9. Api
  10. Klemmer
  11. Ice
  12. Bateman
  13. Pole
  14. Twal
  15. Blore
  16. ??
  17. ??

Plenty of chances for the following to impress & step up over the off-season: Matamua, Da Silva, Feledy, James, Hill (young winger?), Jimmy Ngutlik (another young winger hopefully over his injury!), Seyfarth, Fainu.

Good analysis, I reckon Latu Fainu is a good chance of bench utility/impact.

There’s still something missing up front imo.

@loganr21 yea I didn’t comment on the centres mate . I have zero idea outside Tupou and Bula for the backline . So much potential everywhere from Staines to Toa to Feledy to whoever . All good be Elite all good be playing for Wynnum manly in 2 years .

I actually think Samuela Fainu could turn into a 13.

Big enough for the middle, agile enough for the edge, seems to have the skill set.

Unsure what has happened to Naden, seems to be missing… do we need some milk cartons?

Reilly might turn into a centre we could utilise… he definitely has the attack, just needs to work on his defensive side. But he has the ability.

I realise that your post was before this weeks game, but I thought Reilly was particularly strong in defence tonight.

There’s not much of him though guys…and that’s where we fall down in a lot of positions. Our opposition are just bigger, badder, faster, stronger and most importantly smarter than us!!

The backline is a mess. Bula seems a gun but even he's miles off the finished product in terms of elite #1s. Tupou is promising but again very raw.

None of the others are convincing in the slightest. The top teams have backups that would walk into our starting backline.

If the rumours that all the young players are getting top 30 spots is correct there is only one spot left to fill without players leaving. That would mean a top17 of Bula Nofa Naden Toa Tupou Sullivan Sezer Klem Api Utoikamanu IPap Bateman Pole Da Silva Blore Twal Matamau/Fainu. The other spots filled with 11 kids and an injured Doueihi. I cant see that team finishing better than bottom 4
