Do we continue getting the band back together?
RESPECTED administrator Steve Noyce has resigned from his position as general manager of the NSW Greyhound, Breeders, Owners & Trainers Association (GBOTA).
Noyce, who has served in the role for almost three years, will finish up at the conclusion of the TAB Million Dollar Chase carnival in May.
“I called Geoff Rose last night to tell him that it was time to move on,” Noyce said.
“I’ve enjoyed my time here and met some wonderful people along the way. We’ve managed to achieve quite a lot in the past few years which I’m really proud of.
“The focus now is to make sure we have a great Golden Easter Egg carnival and Million Dollar Chase carnival and then it will be time to hand the baton to someone else.”
Noyce said he’ll look back at his time in the industry with fondness, satisfied that his time at the helm saw a turnaround in the Association’s once ailing fortunes.
“We’ve got to a position now where we can aggressively reinvest back into the industry,” Noyce said.
“Be that through additional prize money or infrastructure, the business is in a really healthy position moving forward.
“If you were buying shares you wouldn’t hesitate investing in greyhound racing. It’s a fantastic product with great potential.”
Prior to his time at the GBOTA, Noyce served as chief executive of the Wests Tigers, Sydney Roosters and Cronulla Sharks NRL clubs following time at the Sydney Turf Club.
