Melbourne officials are set to hold clear-the-air talks with forward Nelson Asofa-Solomona next week after he posted a cryptic message on social media appearing to suggest his time at the Storm may be coming to an end.
......
The Tigers were among the clubs monitoring his form and fitness as they pondered a move for the New Zealand international.
It is understood Asofa-Solomona recently indicated he wanted to stay at the Storm and fight his way back, but Melbourne’s pursuit of Utoikamanu is expected to come at a cost.
.....
At the same time, Melbourne have begun speaking to Utoikamanu as he explores his options for next season.
The Tigers prop and his partner met coach Craig Bellamy and head of football Frank Ponissi last weekend after the two sides played and it is understood further talks could take place with chair and majority owner Matt Tripp.
.......
However, it is understood talks between Utoikamanu and Tigers powerbrokers have gone well and the club is quietly optimistic he will stay for at least one more season and give them a chance to prove that they are heading in the right direction under chief executive Shane Richardson and coach Benji Marshall.

Watching stef stink it up this season gives me serious doubts about his mental strength and ability to be top tier player.
Pole ran 8 runs for 61 meters, klemmer had the best stats this week. Our front row is weak that is the start of our problem
Bateman is pathetic and has to go re value for output.
Doueihi defence is terrible, so was Lobbs
I know Taylan May is a moron however if he is found not guilty, he should be who we look at in the centres. He would be a walk up start in our backline and provide strike.
Again a DH of the highest order however as a centre he is very good
@jedi-tiger totally agree about May but he’s a very good centre, we can’t be too picky about who we should target/sign. If we do we maybe looking at 4 spoons.
1- Bula
2- Turuva
3- May
4- Olam
5- Simonsson
Guys some good news, DT reporting Stef flying to Brisbane to meet Dolphins. Fingers crossed
No to May. This current legal issue is not his first rodeo...Penrith have cut him loose for a reason after a LOT of tolerance. Exactly the wrong player for the culture of this young squad.
We are stuffed. The elite juniors want out because they want to win and we are losers, the young guys we have stuck with that are good want to leave to win premierships despite us paying them overs the last several years as they develop, the only ones that want to stay are busted ones that proclaim love for the club to milk attention from fans but most would barely make first grade elsewhere. Anyone elite from outside comes and drops their standards instantly when they arrive. We have a coach who is an absolute legend of the club and loves it to death but doesn’t seem to know how to actually coach and we have assistants made up of his mates, most on their first assignment in the coaching area. Did I miss anything?
I honestly think Stef is having his head filled with garbage from opposition coaches and managers about how he is being hard done by with the tigers and he has decided he doesn’t want to put in any more. The guy needs to go. Pole runs out with a big smile on his face and puts in 100%, guys like Porter and Sione truck it up and compete. Stef was embarrassed by the Sharks Aldi forward pack last night.
Pole for the good chase made 60 meters in 65 minutes and missed 4 tackles last night.
