@helmesy depth at in the backs would be great. If we keep winning, it will be interesting to see who we can get for that 30th roster spot.

The Bird that 1st came into the game and played tough footy yes ...this version ...not for me thanks
Basic Risk Assessment Says No to Jack Bird.
Too much money considering track his record of Soft tissue injuries and Arthritis. Nothing Personal.
We cant afford so much to be potentially on the sideline if the likely outcome eventuates.

we have the following off contract
Hastings
Brooks
Douhie
We need to extend Hastings now, also does the club ask Hastings who he wants to partner him in the halves Douhie or Brooks and move from that point.

Hastings was interviewed the other week and said hopefully he and Brooks play well in the halves and AD may need to move to lock.
Joked that AD was 6 foot 7 and wanted to defend out on the wing

Surely we’re not in the market for any more halves or hookers.
At the very least we need replacements for Tuilagi and Tamou.
Wests Tigers Podcast - Talking everything Wests Tigers!
SMH reporting tonight that we’re considering buying Jack Bird.
Says we’re having a recruitment meeting this week to decide if we’re going to continue pursuing him.
He wants a three year deal, Dragons only offering two.
They are still chasing Cronulla back-rower Briton Nikora, while Luke Garner is off contract and has attracted interest from Penrith for next season.
While Bird can play in multiple positions, the Tigers - if they decide to offer him a deal - see him as a back-rower.
As reported by the Herald last month, the Wests Tigers are playing around $600,000 under the salary cap this year and are also paying around $400,000 on top of that as part of an agreed deal for Moses Mbye to play at the Dragons.
The club believes it is short on outside backs, which has been compounded by the knee injury to fullback Daine Laurie that will see him miss the next four to six weeks.
My view is that Bird is worth a 2 year deal but no more. We shouldn't offer him a 3 year deal when nobody else will. He's got injury risk given his history.
I also think the signing is dependent on Joffa being moved on. I don't think he's done enough in his 2 years to justify keeping him - from memory there is a mutual option for a 3rd year in the Joffa contract.
Bird to play lock or not at all

If Joffa replicates what he’s been doing this year he’s an absolute keeper. He’s shown a lot of ticker and has been pretty inspirational for mine. His comments prior to the Eels game typify the way he’s played. He’s dug pretty deep this year.We need that sort of relentless, never say die attitude and toughness in our development as a force to be reckoned with.

Spot on mate.

Absolutely agree mate - his efforts have definitely gone up another level this year. Last season he talked the talk but didn't always walk it on the field - this year he has.
Plus his attitude is exactly the type we need to have on board, it will inevitably have an influence on the team. From an outsider point of view, he'd be in my leadership group.
Joffa has been great this year. Very different from last year. I’d keep him.
Joffa is showing some consistency this season ...last year he had some good games but went MIA as well in others
Update from the Pom:
Following this weeks recruitment & retention meeting.
Nikora’s delayed/lacking response to the club has been brought to ahead following his management asking for an increase per year on our offer. He’s been given a take it or leave it response with no reply so far, another Sharks back rower in Jack Williams & Matt Doorey from the Bulldogs have been discussed as a target should this not eventuate.
Franklin Pele also appears to be a no go either due to higher offers elsewhere & focus has now turned to J’Maine Hopgood from the Panthers.
Jack Bird is a genuine option from the clubs point of view at the right value but they get the feeling we aren’t a genuine option for Jack, his management using us to hurry up the Dragons, not to say if the right offer comes in it might sway him, but don’t see this going much further.
Joe Ofahengaue has taken up his option for 2023.
Can confirm Sione Fainu is a top 30 player for 2023.
Only a handful of spots remain for the squad next year & lack of genuine targets has the club sitting back with money to spend & see who gets restless.
Sheens is hoping to pull a fast one on the Eels & securing the services of a young winger named Matthew Komolafe.
In relation to RE-signings as it stands only Tommy Talau has a 1 year contract in front of him & Jock Madden is negotiating with the club, the rest are free to find new homes.
Mikaele almost seems certain to be heading to the Dolphins.
Tuki Simpkins & Jacob Liddle have permission to look elsewhere.
Final top 30 spot is being saved for an outside back, the wait & see approach will come to ahead with this in the next 2-3 weeks as it must be filled by June.
Outside back depth/strike power the main focus for remaining 2023 spots, Tex Hoy has been offered to the club by his management.
