@helmesy sheens said yesterday he knows who the spine will be in 3 years time so you would think if Hastings is one of them we would be in a position to put a competitive offer infront of him
Sheens like Hastings as a 13.
He’s a 13 all day in the modern game.
Further to that, you could almost see in the modern game that your 13 is now a “spine” player too.

That has been my argument all along, at a strong club he is a 13 but at the Wests Tigers he is our best halfback.

100% the 13 is part of your spine.

Noddy said yesterday that this spine brooks 7, AD 6, Hastings 13 is what to expect for the rest of the year. Assume that is Sheens choice

The only issue is that we have to have enough grunt to gain field position to make it worth anything.

ITs the wrong combination IMO.

Agree. Especially when Hastings still has to call all the plays. He’s football smart, smarter than the half we had today.
Guys from the other forum, the guy who posted is pretty good it was not pom though
1) Kade Dykes is not on the clubs radar….
2) Club recognises the need for speed in our backline….Charlie Stains’s manager offering him to the club, but they want too much money. Club not willing to pay asking price.
3) Club is expecting IP to honor his contract, Parra is behind the media circus questioning whether he is coming or not.
4) Junior Tupou is highly regarded by the club…but he is quiet as a mouse, which is why they are playing him at FB in KOE cup to get him used to talking and organising the backline.
5) Blore could end up being a middle forward next year to suit our “attacking style” which the coaches want to bring back.
6) club wants Douehi to develop to be another Jack Wighton #6
7) Joe O….still in negotiations, club want him to sign on for next yearmoney could be an issue.

Point 2 - yes, if we’re going to play up tempo we need blistering speed out wide - we are miles from that with Ken, Nofa and the like.

St George are looking at punting Hook, could he do the pathways role for us ?
@helmesy I had a knock on Staines but he played well today against us better than Laurie perhaps?

I've said before we can have AD and Hastingd in the halves as long as we have blistering speed in fullback and on our edges
Top 8 2023
Sheens has a penchant for speed across all positions. Which explains the many outside backs he’s converted into forwards, and the lean forward packs of the past. Who can forget Danny Galea playing front-row, or Beau Ryan shifting into the forwards during games. But he does deserve some credit for Jason Croker, who had a long decorated career in the forwards after he started on the wing. Also Bozo converted Steve Menzies from the wing, so Sheens isn’t isolated with this. I wonder what Sheens thinks of big Ken? I’m sure he’s tempted by a little experimentation. It wouldn’t surprise me to see Ken sneakily shifting into the back-row during games over the coming weeks.

Straight off he has some advantages over Laurie - size and speed. He’s wasted in Penrith reserve grade.

I would love to see Ken in the back row doing his meter eating and some pace on the wing.
