The fact that this is reportedly happening in the final few days prior to Nov 1 indicated to me that he is intending to leave and they are throwing one last hail mary at him to try to keep him or at least say they tried their best. If he was a chance of staying IMO he would have already signed.
You never know, perhaps things are pretty tight cap-wise at the Storm and not looking as attractive for him? Perhaps his management have become open to negotiation because of this?
Movements and positioning have likely become more fluid these last few days as the chess boards get dusted off.
The fact that the Tigers have made the offer public tells me they are potentially looking to save face with the fans and Pole has already decided to test his value come Nov 1, this close to the date I would do the same if i were in his position. A move to Melb for me seems like a bit of a stretch considering they are stacked with middles and are pretty tight re salary cap. There are a few quality props available for 2026 come Nov 1 so I would not be selling the farm to keep Pole, if i can pick up Kafusi or willison who are just as good if not potentially better than him.

Yeah at least it’s only for 26. That should mean a fitting replacement can be found. Under no circumstances should we release him for 25.
So Dragons have officially terminated Ben Hunts contract....hopefully that means a homecoming for Sullivan or a change of scenery for Douehi....or if we are really lucky both. In truth it is probably a smart move for the players as well, I don't think either will be seeing much first grade time at the tigers

The dominos are about to fall. Naden, Sullivan, Doueihi, Gutherson, JAC.

Yep, Hunt is the first domino... here we go.
AD to dragons and Gutho to dragons
wish we could get Dud Sullivan off the books but don't think we are that fortunate
I wouldn’t get too carried away just yet in regards to the Hunt situation at Dragons. Some suggestions they might make a play for Trindall at Sharks and although Sharks wouldn’t want to lose him it might help them keep a few others if they let him go. Good chance he’ll leave anyway given the clubs interested in him & that he’d command a hefty pay increase. They do have Atkinson as well. The Dragons really must now prioritise a half & not a middle but Flanno loves a strong pack so who knows for sure.
There’ll be a fair few clubs interested in Trindall. Not so many in ADs & Bud.I wouldn’t get too carried away just yet in regards to the Hunt situation at Dragons. No offence but I think I’d rather Sullivan than Trindall. Not overly impressed on him personally.

No offence taken Joel, my only hope is Flanno sees it the same way as you do.There’ll be a fair few clubs interested in Trindall. I’d be surprised if the sharks lost Trindall, he’s a genuine 7 and there are not many of those floating around in their early 20s. Their only constraint might be cap space. Flanno needs another NRL quality half to do anything in 2025 and there is little if anything available on the market that I can see. A home coming for Sullivan makes a huge amount of sense given tigers will subsidies him. Douhie is not an NRL quality half but I can see some interest in him to add depth to their centres and halves. Flanno is a hard head who knows how to coach and Douhie is an NRL quality player so I can see it working and Douhie improving when he has to pull his head in and work for a dominant coach
I think Trindall is a great player. Off field he has had some issues but he had a great season.
A left field sentimental suggestion....assuming we can free up roster spots, any takers to bring Kit Kautoga home? Would be cheap, effective depth with plenty of others in his way.
Obviously need a bigger name prop such as Thompson but also a gamble on a young prop like Kit could pay dividends. we were banking on Miller or someone of that ilk coming good. I would have a soft spot (possibly in my head) to replacing that prospective young kid sopt that miller had.

Trindall also not available until 2026 and can’t see Sharks letting him go early. Some clubs might want to bring players straight away and AD and Bud are more than gettable straight away I’d think.
