If we had of stuck to the game plan in the 2nd half we wouldn't be having this conversation. I think we need to stick but Sheen's has had time for a decent look at how the footy department is performing holistically (on field, coaching, recruitment, development) so my faith is with him.

If we had this, if we had that, if if if it’s always if with this team but the results are always the same. And getting progressively worse under Maguire

Quotes from Rothfield today (Fox Sports)

“He’s under enormous pressure Madge and it was a really, really disappointing second half they were just blown off the football park against the South Sydney Rabbitohs on the weekend,” Rothfield said on Big Sports Breakfast.

“You look at their record under Madge they’ve gone ninth his first year, eleventh his second, thirteenth and now they’re running fifteenth on the ladder.

“I got a call out of the blue from Tim Sheens who was speaking on behalf of the club. I kept putting it to Sheensy, he was talking a lot, I kept saying ‘look can you guarantee Madge’s job is safe?’ And he wouldn’t.

“I think the club has reached a stage of no return with Madge and I would not at all be surprised if he’s coached his last game.

Seems like there could be change in the wind. Sheens and Rothfield go back decades and generally he recites pretty accurately what Sheens says.

I’m still only 50/50 though on if it happens.

I think it's 95% chance he's gone. Sheens is a pro with media stuff. If he's not backing him publicly, it's intentional. I wouldn't be surprised if the next coach is already signed up...

If it’s emanating from Buzz Rothfield you give it little credence. So Sheensy “was talking a lot”,well then if you’re a half decent journalist it’d follow suit to give us some insights as to what he was “talking a lot”about.Sounds like the usual concocted guff and pushing the Flanagan barrow.

SEN’s Michelle Bishop -

“I know there’s no particular board meeting scheduled in the lead-up to the Manly game, so it’s a bit of a wait and see.”

So there’s no board meeting? Will Sheens summon them when he’s ready? Odd.

Maybe it’s already been decided

I wonder if its a coincidence that this talk has arisen in the week before a bye? Either from a media POV (nothing else to talk about) or strategically from the Club?

Im a bit both ways on it. I support Madge staying because there has been quite a few sparks of light lately taht might be indicating a potential new dawn on its way but seemingly jsut as many times the team/club reverting to type. In some ways I cant lose because I support keeping Madge and riding out whether these latest changes are going to make the difference, or else they make the hard decision and a change is made.

@tigersteve My take the Coach they wanted was not available at the time , maybe that’s been rectified, I also think if Douehi was not injured Brooks would of been gone also . The games we play just a fact of life , as much as everyone is saying these players are playing for Maguire I disagree have seen this all before at many clubs there is something going down in Tiger town.

Madge had a game plan? Souths always belt us up the middle, our bench was never going to come close

Yep - complete our sets, attack when we earn the right to do so and kick to the corners. Our forwards didn't earn enough ground so we were attacking or kicking from too far back, the kicking was poor at times, we stopped going left when it was working, and didn't take our chances when we forced some errors. Twal was a massive loss for us, but even so we had matched them as we had 9 forwards (excluding the hooker) and they had 8 because they were carrying Taaffe on the bench.

I voted undecided on this. My indecision is due to wondering who will replace Madge? This is a critical moment - if we're going to part ways the new coach must tick all the boxes. And I just don't know if that coach is available right now.

Yep - this is critical. No point punting someone if you don't have high confidence that your eventual targeted replacement a) wants to come, and b) will do better.
