To’a is a good first grader when he plays in position, which is centre (preferably left centre). I like the way he runs on early tackles and he can bust them as well. His D is acceptable at centre but last week he injured his leg early and struggled. Before then he was playing fullback, which he struggles with (even though that was where he played as a junior). I’d have him in our full strength team.

I agree, I’m a fan of his - will get better playing centre and as he gets more experience.

These results you speak of? 3 wins from 12 games?

If you are just looking at how many wins we had this year,  you don't need a 2 week review.

The results have been in the change of attitude, defensive structures and resolve, attacking structures and strikes rate in 20m zone and the emergence of real leaders in Joffa, Jacko, Tamou and Tawl.

FWIW I agree with this, as well as the point of your next post re injuries. Trouble for me is that we have seen these green shoots of hope continually over the last 4 years. I remember myself making the point that I thought Madge was turning it around 2 years ago with changes made to the back office with Hartigan etc and that had to be torn down.

yes we have been hit with injuries but all clubs are. Losses to knights and warriors were the worst I’ve seen. Very worrying signs against Souffs with the strongest team we have fielded in 4 years. Even with injuries this team is stronger than two years ago and the fact remains that we have won 3 from 12.

I get that - if we were humming along, there wouldn't be this discussion. So I get that.

But my thinking goes to what's the best decision now that improves us going forward?

Sacking a head coach is a big decision, because the whole house of cards underneath falls with it also -  the players that coach likes, the coaching systems, the assistants, alaray cap philosophy, systems etc etc

From my perspective I don't see an alternative coach that guarantees that we go to a better position than what madge can get us to over the next 18months +

Flannagan, green and co are a step sideways

Cilardo and Woolfe are possibly better but also possibly worse. Especially under the WT pressur microscope  - so they are an unknown

Madge is here, he has the belief of the team, we have an improving team with better players coming in - let's let things be for another 12-18 months then reassess.

Totally agree that it is a big decision. I am torn quite a bit on what to do myself. The one thing you overlook is that Madge has a serious problem attracting talent to the club. There are signs of improvement but the players needed for next year need to be established NRL players. If the remaining roster spots are filled by kids or SL toilers then 2023 is a write off as well.

I understand your point and as others have said, its not a decision that can be made in isolation, the alternative needs to be factored in.

Im not sure this club can survive another 18months of same old same old and small incremental improvements arent likely to turn things around IMO.

I like Madge, I think he is completely committed to the club and the team and I agree there are signs of improvement however iM not sure there is much improvement to come. AD is probably the only addition or improvement to come and Im not sure he is the messiah some are expecting.

I also agree with most of your summary of alternate coaches. Flanno and Green are not the answer. IMO it should be Ciraldo or Madge. I understand the concern over a rookie but for me the fact that he has been so integrated with the Pamfers pathways and their systems is a win for me.

Does anyone know who Ciraldo’s manager is?

Potentially relevant if history is anything to go by. Ivan Cleary is managed by George Mimis. He joins WT then immediately signs Packer Matulino and Reynolds who are all Mimis clients.

@tigertownsfs if we can get ciraldo you go after Burton and Liam Martin

2024 you keep Madden as back up and let Douhie and Brooks go and make a play for S Crichton

if Brooks is on this mythical 1.1 million rubbish figure (think it is more like 850k)  then we have no problem in our cap getting rid of him and douhie (say 600k) and getting Burton and S Crichton that would leave 1.7 million to have a crack

1  s Crichton

2. Nofo

3 To'oa

4. ?

5. Maumalo

6. Burton

7. Hastings

9. Api

Am I the only person here that thinks To’a is bog average? I don’t see a lot there.

Don't think we will find out unless he leaves Penrith

Madge doesn't look worried.

Must have the numbers with the board.

Yep. Not sure a bloke about to be sacked would be forward planning by checking younger players out.

Which brings up the question: why the articles? Why the public comments? Why yet again expose us to ridicule?

It just doesn’t make sense

No matter which way this goes, it's been very badly handled. And either way it will affect the perception of our club, or ability to attract talent and the performance of the team

I think the review is yet to be presented but Maguire has hit the phones and sured up his position.

I think you’re right Joel but I read somewhere else that the board would simply rubber stamp Sheens’ recommendation. Crazy times!

@avocadoontoast After 6 decades of supporting this organisation at this present time I and my family have very little interest  remaining did not renew or memberships this season . A decade of failure a coach that is a failure after 3.5 seasons .. a board that continues to divide the supporter base for 20yrs and think 6 home grounds is a good idea .If Maguire is not punted after another debacle that this week has been it just strengthens the perspective that the club is run by FOOLS!

That's a bit harsh @snake - I know you're frustrated

But that's selected paparazzi shot of him watching footy  - You expect Madge to walk around everywhere with a permanent frown?

Madge didn't call the review - If Sheens or the board don't think he's up to it, it's their job to say madge.

While he's still contracted its Madges job to continue to coach the team. I think madge has been noticeably different to last year, he's been generally more relaxed and positive, which I think is reflecting well with the playing group
