Bonjour.

My memory is not sooo good anymore, but I don not remember any boys like Ellis, Addo-Carr, The Tank or Tuqiri in the 2005 Team.

There was Daniel Fitz-Henery, Mr Fata-whera, Mr El-ford, Mr O-Neil, Mr Galea all good honest first graders. True No Goal Kicker as good as the Great Mr Hodgson, or a Lord Marshall. But a Hooker not as good as El Farah, but still good we have in Mr Api.

As for number 7 Half Back (I cannot repeat the name of the player who left us so as his wife could drive an ambulance in Qld !!!) I think Mr Hastings Deering can do that job.

Au revoir, The Frog

They weren’t in the 2005 squad, never said they were, but attacking weapons we did have at various times. You could add Tedesco and Moses to that list. I don’t see that sort of player in the current squad, so my question remains where is the all out attack going to come from?

We need the pigs doing their job properly both defensively and offensively first.

So true.

Bonjour Mr Mike.

“The Club have not failed!

They have just found 10,000 ways that won't work.”

The two spine players in our system Sheens referring to would be

Onitoni Large

Five Eigth Australian Under 15's side

Tallyn Da Silva

Hooker

Thanks Jedi, describing youngsters as "franchise spine players" is a huge call, even for the Sheens.

Won't matter, he will skip over all of them.

@mike It’s a good question Mike and I don’t have an answer for it but when Sheens took over in 2003 I don’t think many people were thinking we’ve got the players who are going to make us a good attacking team. In 2004 we won the Sevens and Benji was introduced & Prince & Payten came to the team, that helped matters. There were signs that we could attack ok. In 2005, Sheens 3rd year it came together as the young players developed the combinations and so on, this despite being 66-1 to win the premiership at the start of the season. It would be no surprise to see things not improve too dramatically for next year at least under Sheens as there will be plenty of changes in the squad and the younger players will be slowly introduced over that the next season or two. It doesn’t mean we will not push for finals, we could if a lot goes right but the transition to a good attacking team might be a somewhat slower process than we hope it might.  There might be moments where we see signs it’s changing but I’d think 2004 we will see more.

Yeah but I’m not happy to wait another three years. I want results now. So I don’t accept Sheens statement that we going all out with attack because at this point in time we simply don’t have the players to execute that plan. We’ll get murdered as a result. It’s very worrying.

@mike I’d love to win the premiership next year Mike, I’d love to make the finals but not many teams have done that from being wooden spooners the year before (just checked & since 2000 about 7 or 8 teams have made finals the season after being wooden spooners which surprised me. Panthers 2003 & Bulldogs 2004 won the Premiership 2 years after being wooden spooners).  So not impossible, we could push for finals if (a big if) players improve (and quite a few have room for improvement) & we have good fortune on the injury front.
