Daniel Anderson
Sydney Roosters recruitment boss Daniel Anderson was airlifted to hospital after suffering spinal injuries while on holiday on Friday afternoon.
Anderson is on a ventilator at Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical but stable condition.
It’s believed the former Parramatta Eels and New Zealand Warriors head coach was hurt in a freak accident while body surfing at Soldiers Beach near Norah Head on the Central Coast.
Anderson was dumped on his neck and left unconscious in the surf and suffered a cardiac arrest as a result.
Family members rushed to aid the 55-year-old, as lifeguards performed CPR on Anderson until an ambulance crew arrived and took over treatment.
He was then airlifted to the Royal North Shore Hospital.
The Sydney Roosters confirmed the incident on Saturday evening.
“Daniel Anderson was involved in an accident on December 30,” a Roosters spokesperson said. “He received immediate medical attention and was transported to hospital where he remains under the care of doctors.
“There is no further medical update available at this time.”
Before venturing into the world of junior development and recruitment, Anderson coached the Warriors in 2001, in what was his first gig as a head coach in the NRL.
After guiding the Warriors to a finals series in his rookie year, he then led the New Zealand outfit to the club’ first grand final appearance in 2002 – where they were beaten by the Roosters.
Anderson then moved to England to coach St Helens in the Super League from 2005 to 2008, leading The Saints to three straight grand finals, winning one title in 2006.
He returned to Australia to take charge of the Eels in 2009 after starting his coaching career at the western Sydney powerhouse as an assistant coach under Brian Smith in 2000.
In his first season at the helm, Smith led the Eels to the 2009 grand final, but his side was defeated by the Melbourne Storm. The Storm were later stripped of that title and the 2007 premiership for salary cap breaches.
Anderson was sacked by the Eels in 2010 but returned to the club as general manager in 2013. In 2019, Anderson was appointed as the Roosters recruitment boss, where he oversaw the signings of Storm superstar Brandon Smith

he is a mate of a good mate of mine. Met him a few times and he is a great bloke. I hope this turns out as good as it can for him.

this is a million times better than Ask the Boss. Well done to the club
It's a club sanctioned and developed podcast??https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/behind-the-roar/id1673192845

IMO there is zero chance it might match the diverse thoughts of members and fans.
Just as I never bothered with Ask the Boss, I won't be bothering with this either.
We have an independent WT podcast and they host this site. That's enough for me. I'll stick to that one.
Personally I think there is lots of scope for fan based as well as club based content. Understandably the club is probably somewhat shy about providing club employees to unmoderated media. There has been a noticeable change this year in terms of how the club is managing its public messaging. If this makes them comfortable to provide a forum for more coaches, executives and players to be interviewed then I’m all for it. The fact that it is presented by someone with some experience in media skills rather than James Pascoe is another huge plus. Fan content is a completely different beast in my opinion. I listen to the WTP to hear the views of the hosts, stay up to date with the latest rumours around the club and share/vent in the poor and good performances of the team.
Not a bad effort first up. The ads were a tad annoying, with the first coming up within a minute of the start.
still love the wests tigers odcast the most but i really enjoyed this, i thought Chris Warren did a a good job, (found him hard to listen to on SEN but was good on this and learnt a bit about Robbie, WELL DONE TIGERS
The interesting thing is that we find with our pod that the episodes where we have interviewed a player or the like have significantly less downloads/plays than just our normal shows. In saying that, the more the merrier imo and it doesn’t affect us in the slightest.

I can't find the pod on my app (Pocketcasts). Is there anyway to find the RSS feed from the apple podcast file?

It's interesting, our regular pods perform better than pods where we have a player interview. We will still look to have guests on but that will probably be a bit harder now the club has their official pod.

Lol, we both replied with almost the exact same comment.
