In regards to Paul Green's passing I thought this might be a good time to ask everyone on here "R U OK?"

Suicide and mental health has had a significant impact on my life, so I thought it would be timely to reach out. If you are every struggling please reach out, if you feel alone and have no one to reach out to please do here, post in this thread, send me or someone else a PM, call Lifeline, just please do something, you are never alone! I know it is extremely hard but you are important no matter how it feels.

I struggle with my own mental health issues everyday, but my life improved greatly once I became more open about my issues and let others help.

Good post, Garry.

I also have mental health issues and chatting about it has helped me and others.

It is a very person-by-person basis as to what helps but for me, exercising and meditation have helped enormously. Meditation may seem a bit lame and airy fairy, but it gives your mind a rest. It takes a few tries to get the hang of it.

Mental health is just as important as physical and we need to get passed the old ways of thinking people are weak and that it can't affect us.

Good post @Garry. Happy to chat to anyone who wants to talk to a grumpy old man… lol

In all seriousness though everyone should reach out to someone if you are not feeling right.

Great thread, mental health is a significant issue affecting many and too many people find it difficult to talk about. Hopefully the more we talk about it in forums such as these,  the easier it will become for people to reach out.

Excellent post Garry and for everyone else I know for a fact that when Garry says "reach out to me, send me a PM", these are not hollow words. I know from personal experience that Garry is genuine about this.

I know what you mean about airy fairy but I also know for a fact that meditation and more importantly mindfulness have made a massive difference in my mental health. Exercise as you say is also a superdrug for mental health.

Thanks mate, your words mean a lot.

I 100% mean it as well, even if we have never spoken before, or even if we disagree over football, I will listen. Sometimes talking to someone you don't know personally can be a really good way to start, it can be less confronting if you aren't going to see them the next day. There have been a number of people that I have met online, a few of them are on here, that have been crucial in keeping me level and are people I turn to when my issues start to spiral.
