@helmesy jeez what is wrong with Tamou. Why can’t he just say “Yeah we would love him here”
Very unlike James Tamou to fail to read a room.
Maybe he is just being honest and saying how it really is.
As club captain it's not his job to be honest, it's his job to talk up the club.
He’s doing better than what Woods did. I also think it’s better for the club and fans to be honest and not just spin. Spin gets old quickly and creates distrust and the feeling of being manipulated.
He said Ciraldo is the best development coach

Glad to see Brad Fittler not mentioned, an awful coach who was absolutely schooled by Slater last night in SOO.
Fittler seems more comfortable being a clown with reporters and players and I'd be surprised if any of the players can take him seriously. It would be hilarious if we went to the Bulldogs but surely Phil Gould is not that stupid.
I voted Ciraldo but I wouldn't be disappointed with Freddy. Sheens made it clear that we need a development coach, and Freddy has a strong rapport with the players and does seem to be in tune with how young folk need to be managed. I don't think he's a clown either- it's all business when he's coaching and he's not frightened to make changes and doesn't have time for dickheads.
I will need to disagree about Fittler. He has had a superior squad of players to choose from in almost the whole time he has been Blues coach and still managed to throw away a series and a number of games they really should have been winning. Hasn't swept a series once.
He was also up against a couple of bang average coaches in Walters and Green.
Now he is up against a team which is pretty much equal to the Blues in terms of ability and a coach who is clearly intelligent and tactically astute and he gets fed his dinner in Sydney where Blues haven't lost in years.
No problem Celtic. There's definitely risk with him as there will be with Ciraldo

Said he was being honest, saying what he believes. I didn’t say he was perfect or right.
Ciraldo has a great opportunity to do something special here aswell if he prepared to take the next step.

Or fade into insignificance, Wests Tigers are a huge risk for any established coach let alone a rookie.

True but I believe that we are finally heading in the right direction. we have some good juniors coming through . Just need to keep the chairman and CEO out of the Spotlight. Can’t see that happening.

Me neither. Not only the spotlight but undue influence on the football department. Therein lies a major problem for any coach coming to the Wests Tigers.
Ciraldo’s appointment was leaked from a Board member yesterday as a done deal. What a great way to sabotage the process.

This is a massive issue and needs to be addressed as urgently as the coaching situation.
if we have a board pulling in different directions we will get precisely nowhere regardless of who’s coaching.
If Sheens and the club are serious about wanting a "development coach" (sorry Mike) then the offer MUST be 5 years. One of the few things we have to entice Ciraldo is strong Wests Harry Matts and Balmain SG Ball and it is going to take at least 5 years for these guys to come through the "pathways".
If I was negotiating, I'd offer him 5 years on good but not insane money with a clause offering him a massive payout if the club sack him early to show intent and commitment, but there would also be a clause with a massive penalty on Ciraldo if he left the club to go back to Panthers.

Do you really think the length matters? He’ll be sacked long before then.

It would matter him, as it would determine his payout.

Don’t you think there would be KPI’s to mitigate that and reduce the payout?

Mike re-read my post. What I said is that if the club is REAL about the "development coach" thing (which you have a strong aversion to) then there is no alternative other than 5 years.
No point saying to someone, "we want you to be a coach to develop these kids but they will be 19 when your contract expires".

Agreed and if he met the KPI's he would need to feel safe and not like he is going to get sacked.
