Work through at least 5 available options and then interview them for the job. Say nothing at all until you pick the best available candidate.
I'm an incompetent middle tier manager. I deliberately do as little work as possible. This was a disaster waiting to happen and we should be thankful the worst available option didn't happen - i.e. a rookie coach being given the keys to the kingdom.
The only issue is they've made it obvious they are incompetent. This might be a good thing.
We'll get a better option than Ciraldo.
We shouldn't have sacked Madge though.
The issue is the way the Chair, CEO and GM all went about this:
1. Sack madge with no replacement lined up
2. Kill our season halfway through- which puts us in a weaker position in attracting coach and players
3. Being so so so public about Cilardo - not exploring other options - it's amateur -
4 and the biggest thing, is thus has happened before- multiple times - they haven't learnt the lesson and that's why there needs to be changes at Board or CEO level
Point 1 is how you handle the situation professionally. The other points are completely valid. They've thrown this season in an effort to get a rookie coach who knocked us back. Pure incompetence.
I would have kept Madge until the end of his contract because Madge has never been the issue. The last couple of weeks show the players were playing for him.

I don't think he has on this issue. The main idiot has been Sheens. He was the one with the development coach line. Pascoe also said Ciraldo was our no 1 target. I haven't heard squat from Lee.

You know, I wouldn’t be surprised that upon the alleged multiple visits that Ciraldo made he was taking notes about the COE and the salary cap etc and bringing them back to Panthers management. But that’s just the cynic in me.

It should also be noted that we gave Ciraldo six hours behind our lines - he would know the ins and outs of the operation and now takes that back to Penrith, and maybe Bulldogs - two direct competitors.

It's been that way for ages. This is a good outcome for us in a couple of ways.
1. Ciraldo was a laughable option as head coach.
2. It exposes the incompetence in our football management team. I think Sheens is the worse and Pascoe a close 2nd. Lee hasn't opened his peep hole so I don't think he looks as stupid although he has done the same thing in the past.
It’s the club admin (CEO and Chairman) that are incapable of negotiating a deal. The technical head (in this situation sheens) shouldn’t negotiate such a significant deal. He identifies who he wants. Then CEO and Chair negotiate commercials and manage the process. You ask Sheens to draw up a wish list. You negotiate with them all at the same time. You don’t ever make your best offer straight off the bat. You stay quiet. You build competitive tension. You be desirable.
You definitely don’t do what our club just did. Identify one target. Tell the media that he is no.1. Offer an a Long term contract despite him being inexperienced as a head coach. We look desperate and in turn, you become undesirable. ultimately we get turned down.

Sacking Madge was a bad decision, doing it without a replacement shows a lobotomised club with an incompetent running the football department. Kimmorley saying it's going to be a long rebuild just makes it worse.

Not a threat as such but Ciraldo now has a great deal of knowledge about our operation, COE and Cap. That can be used against us, especially in player negotiations.

I agree wholeheartedly, I’ve seen enough from Sheens and he should be shown the door along with howevers idea it was to hand him control of the football department.
