I don't like this, sounds reminiscent of our last two failed major negotiations.
This is why sacking Madge mid-season wasn't smart. They could have tapped him on the shoulder and told him he's moving on at the end of the year. Open negotiations with other candidates based on that but let the team finish the year without the added pressure of a change of coach.
Madge coached 3.5 years and the first two were clearing the decks of baggage. The next 18 months was trying to recruit into an undesirable environment and team. Hastings, Api, Stefano and Papal'i signings were a glimmer at the end of the tunnel but sacking the coach extinguishes that light for potential signings - it simply reinforces the perception we're a basket case.
It seems to be a 'panic' decision when everyone knew 2022 was going to be a bad year. If he needed go at the end of the year I'm not against change, but it's sounding like we've gone off half-cocked with Ciraldo and my guess is we're little to no chance of getting him.
My concerns with Sheen running the place are increasing.
Sheens should stick to pathways. He should never have been given the keys to the kingdom. It won’t end well.
I really do hope so 🙏… I need to be put out of my misery with following this rabble.

We had at best a bottom 4 squad and our best player in AD played 20 minutes yesterday. The decision to sack Madge might have been the right one because you can't keep performing terribly but it comes across as doing something to be seen as doing something.
Sheens is a massive concern.

If Madge was going to be punted end of year why on Earth would we keep him now? We need to do a heap of recruitment for next year and we need whoever our coach will be to be driving that process.

They couldn't tap him on the shoulder and tell him he is going at the end of next year. He was under contract for next year. Why would Madge hang around until the end of the year, in a job that is going nowhere and forego a larger payout?
They also have to announce it way before the end of the year so that they can sign new players and re-sign who they want to keep (Hastings).
The Wests Tigers believe Cameron Ciraldo has all the qualities required to lead the club out of the doldrums - and they’ve shown him just how highly they think of him by not approaching any other candidates for the coach’s job as they await his response.
Those close to Ciraldo say he’s in no rush to make a decision. He wants to make sure it’s the right one and won’t be pressured by time constraints.
The Tigers understand it’s a big decision for the rookie coach, but they can’t afford to be left waiting for a man who may never arrive.
The Tigers are willing to give him that time to decide, but they also know at some point they need to open negotiations with other prospective coaches in case Ciraldo opts to stay at Penrith or link with the Bulldogs.
That point is likely to be after this weekend with all teams enjoying the week off for representative round. The Tigers hope Ciraldo will give them an answer by the end of the week.
Since they rolled out the red carpet for the Panthers assistant in a marathon seven-hour meeting at Concord last Monday, Ciraldo has been inundated with work given Ivan Cleary’s current health predicament.
Ciraldo led the Panthers to victory over the Warriors in Redcliffe on Saturday - the third time this year he has filled in and managed a win.
But representative round has come at the perfect time for all concerned. Ciraldo will have time to sit down and work out what his next career move will be. The Tigers have decisions of their own to make.
Oh God no.....
Could they set themselves up for disaster and ridicule any more?

This is from last Friday. Ivan talks about Ciraldo from 5min.
Pretty clear that Ivan has told Ciraldo to tread carefully around the Tigers. Totally understandable.
What I find especially disappointing is that the club officials - Sheens, Pascoe and Lee - are all outwardly saying that Ciraldo is the target. Make the guy compete for the job for christ's sake. Interview other candidates. Invite applications at least.
This will be hugely embarrassing for the WT if he rejects them after all this. It's the equivalent of proposing to your mrs up on the big screen in the stadium at half time only for her to run away when you take a knee! 🙁
2:30pm came and went Garry, just saying.
Lol I'm still confident

Pretty clear he is advising against the Tigers in this interview

Lol I'm still confident
Im less and less confident.
The only reason I have any confidence is because the way it has been set up with a series of statements, my feeling is surely our management cant be that incompetent, that it must mean we have him hooked. Then I remember Latrell etc and I get less confident. Cleary's interview makes me almost despondent.
I know this sounds dramatic, but if they miss Ciraldo, the way it has been managed, I genuinely think that it might be the end for me. I cant support that level of incompetence. If they get him, Im on board.

Is it really understandable especially coming from Cleary. We resurrected his career, we were completely supportive and he showed no integrity at all.
I don't get it at all.

Don’t forget JAC. We had him as well but somehow slipped away. We should be exploring every coaching option out there.
@earl Understandable your joking right .. he picked up and left ! It was a very underhanded thing to be frank . You can blame the club for a lot of things but this one it’s all on Cleary, of course he wants CC to stay he is a big reason the Panthers are we’re they are losing him leaves a very big void to fill.

🧐This all sounds very familiar.
Clarkey on Facebook is reporting Ciraldo toured the Tigers facility today (conflicting reports said this happened last week).
