He should have pulled everyone together (coaching staff and Board) and made it clear that nobody is to name any of the potential candidates and to play a “straight bat” to any questions from the media.
We don't know he didn't. The suggestion there's talk of investigating leaks infers he may have.
The announcement that CC isn't coming, and the entire management fiasco being exposed seems to have been a tipping point for many supporters.
Pascoe is a soft target a lot of the time and this may be another case of this. But we need to look at how and why this Ciraldo fiasco came about.
To me it's mainly on Sheens but others also need to share the responsibility.
Sheens made the recommendation to sack Madge, did he also recommend this should be done before another preferred coaching candidate was locked in? If so it is on Sheens, if not it is on whoever made that call.
The board? Lee? Pascoe?
And if Sheens did make this call, it is also the responsibility of those who accepted his recommendation and ran with it.
The board? Lee? Pascoe?
If Pascoe had nothing to do with the above, citing this coaching appointment fiasco as a reason to sack him is wide of the mark. But, depending on how much involvement he did have, yes it could be fair reason to move him on.
And if we do move him on, proper business practice needs to be undertaken this time. Not just sack him then have a collective head scratching session to try and come up with a replacement - we'll need to have an extremely strong and experienced CEO to replace him. Otherwise this club will really go into a tailspin and there'll be smoke billowing from the fuselage...
Right now is not the time to be ditching Pascoe. We need to get the footy side of things stabilised before that move could be made.
Maybe getting a new, respected CEO (no idea who) would be the catalyst for change that we need to attract players and coaches.
Even just someone who knows how to shave and brush his hair would be an improvement 😆
You just ruled me out.

The comments were made by Sheens firstly from memory so it wasn’t a leak. Leaks have been an issue for a few years now and they keep coming.
I think the bar was extremely low for Pascoe to be a success. We have always been poorly managed commercially and he was able to provide basic competence in terms of financial management, sponsors etc. At best I would say he has a pass mark given we are financially stable but there is more to bring a CEO of a NRL than balancing the books (though that is a basic requirement).
