luai will lose his voice the amount of sprays he will be giving our blokes in 2025
That was an incredible game. I t actually looks like a different sport to the one the Tigers play. Very happy for our Romey and Tito......even Garner tbh. Well done boys now bring to us.
Hopefully after viewing that gf it will be obvious to our current players how much they need to improve to be competitive in this comp.
The gym at the CoE should be busy from tomorrow am to get a headstart before the new recruits/standards arrive.
There will be tears!!! 😢 😭
Post game he said “No one works harder than these boys.”
Well, it shows and it shows in bucketloads. And that defence the Panthers have, it’s fantastic. Storm were kept to single figures twice this season, both times by the Panthers.

Number one priority this off season is to fix the damn defence 😡

@helmesy Defence is a part of it … last night should one team was physically dominant, after 55mins the Storm were gone the Panthers keep coming and the Storm could not go with them .The Panthers fitness and stamina won that game coupled with there defence . It was there for all to see the formula for success in this modern game , the Tigers have all the material aspects to realise this but unfortunately have they the know how or the willingness to drive individuals to achieve the fitness / stamina to compete and dominate there opponents ,at this stage I very much doubt it there struggle to compete for 50 mins at this stage ! This is where sourcing externally is the key not employing your mates !
What Penrith do in defence is not complicated. Any team can do what Penrith do in defence but they are the only team that can do it for 80mins.
@tiger5150 Defence becomes easier the better your stamina is as you can compete on all plays , once fatigue hits the game is over in the Tigers case that’s around the 50 min mark so as you say it’s not complicated you just need a coach that realises this ! The coach bags on in pressers that were only completing for 50 mins well coach it’s not rocket science open you eyes and rewatch the GF again the team with the dominant fitness and stamina levels just powered over there very fancied opponents.
I don’t think you can fix it so you suddenly become the best although Ciraldo did great at Dogs. And there’s no doubt most of that improvement came from his focus on fitness levels. Chris Lawrence made that point about Ivan when comparing the coaches he had, Ivan put a lot of focus on running, stamina. That’s a simplified way to look at it but still worth noting. But improving it to the point you’re top 8 in defence would be a step in the right direction. I think we can do that but the leadership group must be better.Post game he said “No one works harder than these boys.”

IMO thats kinda the whole point. Yes the Tigers defence flags out around 30-50mins, but I would put it to you that generally speaking the Tigers never defend like the Panthers. Panthers defence isnt complicated, good inside pressure from the markers and insanely fast line speed, numbers in the tackle. Tigers line speed would be half that of the Panthers and this would be intentional because we couldnt keep it up for more than 3 sets or 10mins.
It was interesting that Ciraldo got the Dogs from worst defence to one of the better defences in his 2nd year there. It obviously took time for players there to get used to his tough training methods and for him to put together a squad that was fit & mobile enough to cope with it all. Can only hope Romey, Api, Jack Bird etc can help lift standards enough through the group to improve fitness & defence. Lachie, probably the fittest, has mentioned a few Tigers players were behind the 8 ball last season in terms of fitness & that Benji wants them all to return in better shape than they’ve been previously. Hopefully that’s the case.

You could argue that the team with the best stamina came first, the worst came last.
Surely we have to look at our training methods and conditioning people??

It will certainly be interesting to see if anything changes in that regard. Jarome Luai’s Penrith fairytale is finished, now it’s time to fix the Wests Tigers
Having tasted unparalleled success at the Panthers Jarome Luai is now coming to terms with his 2025 move to the wooden spoon winning Wests Tigers.
Jarome Luai has declared he’s ready to lead a team on his own after achieving an irreplicable fourth NRL title with Penrith.
The Wests Tigers bound five-eighth celebrated a fairytale finish with the Panthers on Sunday night, bringing an end to a magical run with his lifelong club with a 14-6 win over Melbourne.
Luai wore the brunt of playmaking responsibilities for the bulk of this season with skipper and halfback Nathan Cleary sidelined through injury.
And after another star performance in his fifth straight grand final Luai now knows he’s ready to do it without his old mate by his side.
“I’ve gotten a lot of confidence out of this year, especially with Nath being out, it was an opportunity for me to grow in that role, I’ve never had to play it since I’ve been here,” he said.
“I know I’m on the way out, but I’m ready for it.”
Luai has played his entire career with Cleary, starting as kids in Penrith’s lower grades.
“Best to ever do it,” he says of Cleary. “I don’t think anyone will do what we’ve done ever again, what we’ve done here.
“We’ve got a few sons in this team so maybe they’ll be the ones to break this record.”

Melbourne were the best team all season and finished two wins clear at the top of the ladder, but Luai says he never doubted he would get a fairytale finish along with James Fisher-Harris (Warriors) and Sunia Turuva (Tigers).”
It never crossed my mind, not once,“ he says. “I’ve got supreme confidence in me and in this group.
“I was nervous (on Sunday morning) laying in bed and then I just thought of all the players around me and I was like, we’re sweet.
“This team is amazing. They all probably view pressure in the same way that I do. What a way to go out.“
In memory of Geoff Chisholm (1965-2022)
Have to be impressed with his attitude. He’ll love the challenge here. Might be tougher than he expects but working with Benji & Api will be something he’ll enjoy, and leading the younger guys.Jarome Luai’s Penrith fairytale is finished, now it’s time to fix the Wests Tigers
