This guy reckons some Wests Tigers fans have been too tough on Luke Brooks.

I stay positive about Brooks because I do believe the essence of this article to an extent. I believe there is too much focus on him and he is the first to be berated by the fans. This has affected him adversely. However, his lack of leadership and decision making and his inability to constantly lead the team around, especially when the game is in the balance, cannot be ignored.

my hope is that Hastings takes that leadership pressure and Brooks grows in confidence as he plays a more eyes up game

i think its a pretty fair article, i enjoy the articles from the roar as i believe they are mostly close to the mark with the Tigers.  I thought Brooks has two years and not finishing contract this year

@tigersteve Cant agree with this at all mate. To me Hastings is just the latest in a long line of players who were supposed to "take the pressure off Brooks to allow him to flourish".

10 weeks into the comp and the call will be Brooks needs to be given full ownership of the team, we know this because it happens every year.

There seems to be a collective amnesia among Tigers fans regarding Luke Brooks and just how poor he has been year on year, the longer the off season goes the better he becomes. But don't worry because he's "training the house down".

Rearranging your team and trying to find a new position for an under performing player is a recipe for failure, in my opinion we won't play finals footy while he is in the halves in any capacity.

@celtic_tiger no worries at all. I accept I’m in the minority. I don’t actually disagree with alot you say. But I think he is a good first grade standard footballer who puts in every week. He just doesn’t lead us around the park and that has been his most important role.

This is why I don't like moving Brooks to 9. If he can't do the job at 7 well then get rid of him. Personally I don't think he is that bad. He also isn't that good. I feel the big problem with brooks is that he cops so much attention. He should be a role player.

It does seem like the hot topic of every season revolves around Luke. And will also be this season. The difference this season will be what Hastings/Peachy brings to the team. I think it will be a blessing in diguise as it will ease the pressures on Brooks to a degree.
In my eyes I’ve always seen Luke as a running half and not an organiser. Something the club has lacked since the Scott Prince days sadly. There will be question marks over Hastings and rightly so, been out of the nrl for a number of years and he’s not your accustomed halfback either. I see his profile has him at 100kgs. Links were made for him to be brought over last year as a ball playing lock. I suppose the inclusion of Peachy says that might not be on the cards. But with injuries to our outside backs could speculate a move for him to play there.
Plenty of questions will be answered with our trial games in the coming weeks. And hopefully our coach has something set in stone for our rd 1 team after those games.
Finally with Brooks it would be good to see him enjoying his footy, than having the weight of the world on his mind.

Keep steering the right path

It has never been a complicated game, and the issue around Brooks isnt a complicated issue. We get a pack that punches holes and gets the opposition backpeddling, Brooks will look like a Dally M halfback. If we are the ones constantly on the backfoot, Brooks looks like an average half.

I genuinely dont see the complication.

@tiger5150 see I think this is just another excuse rolled out for Brooks. Against the Warriors last year when they were severely depleted three of our forwards ran for over a hundred metres but Brooks couldn’t get us over the line.

We dominated their forwards that night but Brooks didn’t deliver, in fact he was utterly awful at the back end of the game.

Please don’t remind me of that match.

This is Brooks problem. He can play but he is the opposite of clutch. He is a role player.

Look at how Moses kicked on with parramatta if Brooks was in a better performing team with better players he would shine like Melbourne Manly Roosters souths etc

He was great in 2018 he can get to those heights again, Brooks is not the main problem with this team it has been our forwards and last year and this your we have no strike in the backs.

I do think Sheens will help Brooks get his confidence back
