I don't think he has a chance but you never know. He is only young and there aren't many good halves out there.

I get good vibes from this kid based on what I saw from last years cup games. He has bided his time nicely in the lower grades and seems very solid at that level. He didn’t look out of place in first grade either.

Not a world beater as yet but he could well prove very handy for us if injuries strike us in the halves or if any of our first choice are out of form.

Madden lacks that yard of pace you need as a half in the current game

So does Hastings and AD.

Brooks is pretty pacey and we know how that’s turned out. Quick between the ears is my preference.

Not saying Jock is either as a I haven’t seen enough of him.

Think Madden has some potential but will struggle to get too much of a chance this year. He has been very unlucky the last 2 seasons in lower grades have been wrecked by covid. I think a generation of players who are good nrl players but not outright stara have missed opportunities to grow their games.

I think Covid has certainly affected us a development club.

Agree ...but you then need to be able to get through the hole you created or even put fear into the opposition defence that you can

AD has that step and size close to the line that makes him dangerous

The best example I use is the Langer boys ...if you ask me who the better footballer was I reckon Kevin was more creative and tougher than Allan ...but Alf had that bit of speed over the 1st 5 yards .....and most people have never heard of Kevin Langer ....

I haven't seen anything from him that suggests he's nrl calibre.

Yep. I've seen him play a couple of times in the lower grades and he performed pretty similarly to how he performed in first grade. He wasn't killing it in reserves.

Except for injuries I can't see Madden getting a shot at first grade

He is not a good as Brooks as a 7 Brooks has pace

He can't walk on water so by some he will not be ousting Adam Douhie, and Hastings by some is the second coming both are number 6's

Madden  is an out and out 7, he probably will play nrl but may not be at Tigers, Newcastle shoukd have tried to borrow him for 2022 and see how he went because I think he is better than the halves they have

He won player of the year for a team that was towards the top of the table and was leading point scorer in the entire comp.

I just hope he gets some decent game time. Don’t care if it’s in the lower grades. What he needs more than anything now is to play week in week out and get into that grind (same for a lot of the boys). Then given an opportunity in firsts and show is what he can really do.

Showing your age mate… who’s Kevin Langer?? 😅

You make a good point btw.
