Despite what he believes, he's not proven at 6 and he's clearly not a fullback (which, IIRC was why we bought him). I think centre is his best position but it sounds like he wants more than centre money.
People (including me) denigrate Brooks but I doubt very much AD can supplant him at 6. He's slower, a worse defender and stifles the attack. I'm struggling to see where he fits into the puzzle if it's not centre.

Of course he's not proven at 6, he only played there for half a season but in the time he did play there he was our best player on a number of occasions, miles better than the perpetually under performing Brooks who has made a career out of stifling our attack.
In the Souths game when we lost in golden point to the Burgess try he was absolutely excellent. There's no doubt there are things AD can improve on but to say he can't supplant Brooks is miles off, all he needs to do to achieve that is go 80 mins without kicking out on the full.
As I've said previously the least he deserves is a crack at 6 playing beside a functional 7.

I disagree, he improved the team when moved to centre. I would entertain Laurie at 6 before AD but as we don't have a viable fullback option it won't happen.
If it was a conversation between AD and Matt Burton I would understand why people would want Doueihi to play centre but if it’s between him and Brooks then the decision should be a simple one. The only reason that it isn’t is because Brooks is on a huge contract. On the merits of both players, Doueihi has shown he’s a better 6.

That’s part of his development. He’s played less than a season there. With more time I think he’ll make a very good 6. We just have to give him some time.

That is how AD needs to play. The biggest consequence of his injury was the loss of the pre season where he needed to be working on those aspects of his game.

I know Douhie is the heart of the team and everyone says what a good bloke he is and Brooks is a good bloke but surely if we want to improve a s a team we need to lose both and go all in for one of the number 6's to partner Hastings.
Potentially 1.5 million to 1.7 million on offer if we move both on.
@celtic_tiger 1.5 to 1.7 million to spend on a Burton or Munster or Manu or Brown if you offload Douhie and Brooks.
Douhie is not a 6, he was signed as a fullback remember from souths

I love AD’s passion and enthusiasm,and his never say die attitude.My criticism of him last year was his overplaying of his hand and his unwillingness to let the ball move through the line.His lateral defence could be a little suspect but I’m sure that can all be rectified.His wobbling spiral bomb is a lethal weapon which I hope can be utilised to effect and his goal kicking was a revelation for long suffering WTs.
Given where we are he definitely needs to be given a shot at 6,my only concern being he’s going to need a fair few minutes in his legs not only for match fitness,but for his confidence in coming back from the ACL.

Not as a 4 or 14 .....600 k for a centre gets you the best centre in the game in my opinion .....and he has only looked good at 6 when the entire team has played well ....Brooks included

The other big concern is Douehi is one ACL injury from being a 600 k boat anchor ...not supposed to sound awful ...but thats the case unfortunately
