"It is with great pleasure that I formally announce the continuation of our partnership with South Sydney for the fifth consecutive year,” said Lee Hagipantelis, Principal of Brydens Lawyers.

South Sydney Rabbitohs – Article

In addition to Souths they also support Newcastle and St. George. How can we allow the Principal of Brydens Lawyers to remain Chair of Wests Tigers when they have interests in our opposition.

The sponsorship of the other teams doesn't overly concern but why is he the one showing up to other clubs for the announcement. As Chair of our club he should be sending someone else to the announcements for sponsorship

If he was just a sponsor I wouldn’t have an issue either but he is the Chairperson of our club and to me that’s a Major issue. You can’t be a Chairperson and support other clubs, period.

He isn't supporting them, his business is and I don't have a problem with it until you see him at and quoted in the announcements for other teams.

As the Principal he is supporting them. This type of sponsorship would not get by without his tacit approval. This cannot go on. Of course he would be announcing sponsorship and supporting other teams, he’s the Principal… That’s his job. He cannot be Chairperson of the Wests Tigers as well. He needs to step down.

It’s a conflict of interested - yes however so long as he keeps his distance it’s okay. Direct quotes and photos with other clubs is more of the issue. If we limit the chair to being unable to have business dealings with other clubs we narrow the candidates.

Being the Major Sponsor of the Wests Tigers and being Chairperson, alone is a conflict of interest. Being the sponsor of other clubs as well is beyond a joke. He’s laughing at us. You can be a Sponsor of Wests Tigers and what ever other club you want to advertise with, but you can’t also be the Chairperson or even on the Board of the Wests Tigers as well. Conflict of interest much.

I think it’s more of a conflict that he is our major sponsor and chair.

Chairman Lee rents the ownership of our club via his tax deductible $1m sponsorship. Given how influential he has been in exercising his position (he acts as a co CEO getting involved in things as important as recruitment) we need to remove him and replace him with an Independent chair who can properly perform his function of holding the executive to account

What was the riccio  article about Benji ? Lol ridiculous.
As if Benji wouldn’t want a board that he doesn’t have to convince to stop doing stupid stuff .
as for Lee . I ebb and flow on  that guy . Just when I think “he’s not so bad “ he does something that makes me think he’s an imbecile . Or doesn’t really care about the tigers/ hedging his bets.
I think we just cut our losses with him and Pascoe , and half the board .
We can’t really axe the board in one fall swoop ,it has to be periodic .
Urgh , why did we let this guy get a foothold in the club .

Exactly! But as we know mate, Lee simply can't help himself and needs to be in the limelight whenever possible.

Interesting point as part of the new NRL licence agreements clubs are going to to have to have 33% female representation at board level and 25% in management.

You need to update your candidates list @frullens

I vote for Tarsha Gale.

I don’t think she likes Wests Tigers, wouldn’t be my choice.

Lee Hagipantelis' refusal to obey a request from the Holman Barnes Group, the 60 per cent majority shareholder of Wests Tigers, to stop constantly putting himself out in the media is the major reason he is set to lose his job.

The Tigers chairman holds regular long lunches with journalists who support him and blame others at the club for the Tigers' demise.

The media campaign has upset the Group, who also run the powerful Wests Ashfield Leagues Club, and have ordered the review of the club.

But the complicating factor is that if Hagipantelis goes, his company's - Bryden's Lawyers - $1 million sponsorship could go with him.

I know the review and the repercussions cant and shouldnt be rushed, but 01 Nov is fast approaching and it would be good to know who is steering this ship then for new and existing players.

Hence the conflict of interest!!!!! If you didn’t want to be held to ransom then you shouldn’t have made him chairman!

also legally I doubt he could pull his sponsorship given he has a multi year agreement.

my guess is that at some point (soon) he realises that it will do him bigger brand damage to blow up the club to keep his position and that he will vacate the chair and recommit to keep his sponsorship

That last paragraph is laughable. It’s not a complicating factor at all it’s another reason he should go if needs to use the sponsorship as leverage

Lee really is the loosest chairman around! Continually unprofessional in his behaviour.

Can someone tell me, who is actually the boss of the HBG?

The Board of HBG is. I believe Tony Andreacchio is the current Chairperson. But if you are asking who is the CEO of HBG, that’s Simon Cook. He would also make a great CEO of the Wests Tigers but is too busy in his current position.
