I am holding out hope that this story is a trap to flush out the internal leak. Club hasnt announced Lee's extension yet.
Every-time we do something stupid it gets suggested it might be a trap. Unfortunately we don’t have any Tyrion Lannister types who could execute a trap without falling into it themselves
Bula’s retention came on the same day it emerged Hagipantelis, whose law firm Brydens is also the club’s major sponsor, will remain at the helm of the club until 2026. He has held the chairman role since taking over from former NSW premier Barry O’Farrell in 2019.
“I don’t take anything for granted, the results over the last three years have not been great,” Hagipantelis said.
“But it’s a credit to the board that they see that although the results haven’t been good, we have made substantial structural and cultural changes to the organisation.
“We are slowly turning a corner. The last three years, in my view, have been all about transformation. You could even go back further to 2018 when we encountered difficulties with Ivan [Cleary, coach] leaving the club and there were consequences that the club had to deal with.
“It was a difficult period thereafter, it took a long time to stabilise the cap and the roster.
“This year was the final year, I believe, of that transition into a new era. It’s been an honour for me to oversee a lot of that with the support of the board. We all share the same vision for the club.”
Hagipantelis, his board and chief executive Justin Pascoe have been lightning rods for criticism.
Asked if he had any qualms about continuing in the role, Hagipantelis said: “There may have been some reticence in the head, but in the heart, no. I love the job, I love being able to make a difference.”

Holman Barnes Group, the trading name for Western Suburbs Leagues Club Limited, which owns 90 per cent of the Wests Tigers, is conducting a review of the governance of the club. Hagipantelis conceded under the current ownership structure, there is no way for disgruntled members to force changes at board level.
“I understand the complaint in respect to the lack of accountability given the corporate structure, but it is what it is,” Hagipantelis said.
“It doesn’t mean the club is immune to criticism and doesn’t heed the concerns and complaints of our stakeholders and supporters.
“The fact there is a review commissioned is evidence the Holman Barnes Group has heeded the concerns and has ordered this review to ensure everything that can be done is done.”
Asked if Pascoe was expected to remain as chief executive after the review, Hagipantelis said: “I expect so, yes. I have spoken to my fellow directors, who have expressed faith and confidence in Justin in fulfilling his role.”
The Tigers have fast-tracked their succession plan, meaning Marshall will take over as head coach from Tim Sheens now rather than at the end of next season.
“I don’t want to get ahead of myself, I won’t be making any fearless predictions about 2024,” Hagipantelis said.

“The reality is we have had a complete transformational change in our football department with Benji’s elevation. It is a new dawn, a new era.

“Benji continues to impress, he presented to the board and his football IQ and knowledge astounds me, personally.
“I truly believe that we are on the right path and turning that corner.”

This is a massive “get stuffed” from the board to the fan base.

1000%.
makes sense also in the context of Cook resigning from the WT Board citing need for change. As CEO of HB Group he announces review into club that he nominally controls and WT Board stacked with sclerotic losers from WA Board double down as a demonstration of their power and control. They are literally unaccountable.
the podcast guys should demand that all recommendations are made public because if they don’t this thing is just going to get buried.
2 things on this .
1- I 💯 see this as a flex/ dodgy dealing.
They know that half of them will go , and have greased the wheel either intrinsically or extrinsically. Making it impossible after the review to remove Lee .
2- there’s no way Pascoe stays IMO now . I don’t care what Lee says . Someone has to fall on their sword , just from an optics point of view . Otherwise the “Pascoe Fiasco” signs will be everywhere next year , and it will ratchet up big time .
The whole thing looks like “let them eat cake” ivory tower stuff .
See how well that went down , ie. French Revolution.
If they can’t see that’s the next stage on this spiral to oblivion, then they really are not that educated and bright .
I’m not advocating for that at all , I just wish humans wouldn’t human some times .

The HBG board call for a review in governance of the WT board
Then the WT board say stuff your review and reappoint the chair for 3 years, say they believe in the same vision and the CEO is safe
Even when the majority of board members sit on both boards
It's the clearest show of the issue with the governance of our ownership/club.
Theres a lack of leadership and gumption to see tough things through. And always putting self interest in front of the best interests of the club.

@frullens ambitious people who crave power , are generally the types who sit in these types of positions , sometimes with an extra virtue of caring about the club , often times not .
The problem with this is , when you try to remove these types , they tend to want to burn down the house on thier way out , because they never cared about the club really to begin with .
Simon cook seems to be the only good thing going on at wests tigers/ HBG board level .

So true, yet they can't stay the course on anything else.
I believe the Chair has literally bought the Wests Tigers. Perhaps indirectly as no other board member is willing to stand up to him for fear of losing the money his sponsorship brings. In one week -

I would suggest that a change that involves those two is desirable.
