Mielekamp comes with great pedigree, he is revered by the Mariners and had good success on and off the field.

Yet here he is obviously hamstrung. He can't answer honestly about the problem of a magpies lower grade side, coming up with a vague answer about eventually having everyone fully support one club, and talks about all the communication he has to do with HBG which to me seems coded and suggests how he has to pacify and constantly manage the relationship with HBG.

I just don't see what HBG has proven to justify their control over decision making and their intervention in our club.

Mielekamp seems a good man, but I wonder if he will regret accepting this position under the current structure.

it is a farce. What gives me hope is that I have never seen so many people who actually now understand the debenture system and the nightmare that is governance at HBg. A year ago I was ok that Romero was sacked because we had a majority independent board so the demented debenture politics didn’t matter. It turned out there was a loophole where HBG could unilaterally sacked and stack the WT board and they could unilaterally amend the number of board seats etc. now everyone can see that HBg are the problem and that the solution is to cut this cancer out of our club. They are not doing us a favour, there is probably 100 people who would happily pour the amount of money that HBg gives to the club. They are not special, they are a vampire squid sucking on the face of the WT and the sooner that we cut them out of our club forever the better. We are through the looking glass now, no going back

Good grief. Just when I thought the resignation of Richardson could re-invigorate the CEO role of WT, this bloke seems like a complete tosser.

I hope he stays as interim CEO, to be replaced by someone better.

My position is that we need to wait to see what the new WT board looks like.

If we have a board where skilled independent people hold the power then Shaun might be a good pick (again, I predict he will get the job).

If Shaun is a by-product of the HBG power play then I’m concerned.

For the record, I reckon he’s a good operator, but I’m not 100% sold on top notch NRL CEO credentials just yet.

From Tele/Zero Tackle:

It is understood the revamped board will consist of up to nine members, with five positions held by Holman Barnes or Western Suburbs nominees.

Among those representing the major shareholder are Holman Barnes chief executive Daniel Paton, deputy chairman Frank Primerano, board member Mick Liubinskas and chief commercial officer Michelle Nielsen.

A complete waste of time
