O'Farrell coming back doesn't mean much imo - we're a long way from being out of the woods.

if all the independents are reinstated, Benji is extended, millicamp ceo ang burgess sacked as chair of HBG what do we think of that?

Not a bad outcome. In saying that, Richo is a big loss and losing him will have ramifications.

It would be a great outcome. For those asking for Richardson to be reinstated; he resigned, he was not sacked like O'Farrell and the others. I hope he stays well away from WT in the future. A less pig-headed and more measured CEO can only be a good thing.

Haven't seen anyone asking for Richo to be reinstated and pretty sure everyone is aware he resigned. He could still be reappointed though and if suggest you're in the minority with not liking Richo. But obviously you're entitled to your opinion.

I liked Richo and he smashed through a bunch of changes that a more conciliatory (or perhaps compliant) CEO never could.

most important though is that we have an majority independent board of oversight from capable directors for the NRL club. Extracting HBg from their ownership is going to be tough and ultimately is the best possible outcome as no sane owner would act in the way they are acting plus they have diabolical corporate governance issues of their own that regularly spill out into the public and cause destabilisation for the WT.

a close second in terms of best outcomes however is a neutered HBG that has been told in no uncertain terms that their ownership of the licence is at the discretion of the ARLC and that they need to keep out of football operations other than represent the ownership on the board (in a minority sense). I could tolerate that if this was pared with a competent CEO and full reinstatement of the independent board members (although perhaps they don’t want to come back).

what on earth. Looks like PVL gave HBG an ultimatum. Still lots of details to work out but can’t imagine that Barry comes back without assurances. Maybe HBG just take their win that they killed Richo and try and rescue their ownership.

I feel like there is still a bit to play out here as you say

- who actually re-appointed O'Farrell and why was that decision made?

- what about the other independents? We know they met with PVL yesterday. They would not have attended that meeting if they were content to just walk away and take the HBG decision on the chin?

- re-appointing O'Farrell puts the club back on the front page of the paper today and ensures more ppl will show up to the protest. This will put MORE pressure on Denny Burgess et al to step aside

- the HBG board is set to meet on Monday 15 December. This is the first time in 15 years there's been serious scrutiny of Dennis Burgess so its fair to say that their could be knives out for him at that meeting

I know you have said that Richo has been killed off and that does appear to be the case. But he spoke with such passion in that press conference. He was very emotional and referred to the club as "we' multiple times. Love him or hate him he does care about the club and the fans. I reckon if Burgess is moved on he would consider a return.

What about the other independent board members?

If I was in Barry's shoes I'd be seeking the reinstatement of all the independent board members or at the very least a commitment to replace the independent board members and keeping the same structure as the post-review era.

I think that would be a good start to the very long road back to stability.

He covers off all the issues and says he met HBG CEO Daniel Paton face to face last week. Suggests next weeks board meeting may result in new appointments to the Wests Tigers Board.

If the 4 independents have been walked out that leaves 3 currently - Burgess & Montgomery (HBG / Wests Ashfield) + Danny Stapelton (Balmain)

Are HBG going to put more of their own people on the board to fill the spaces?
If yes how many new board appointees?

OR

Could they try and spear Burgess and Montgomery potentially?

If they put their own people than it is no longer an independent board.

If they put their own people than it is no longer an independent board. My guess is they "announce" they are going to recruit new independent members and name interim board members from amongst HBG.

Can't Anthony Field just step in & buy the club? He's got Wiggles money, surely?

Hahahaha but he’d want to call it Balmain again. You can’t write this stuff with this club

anyways

Is anybody going to the march. I’m not hearing or seeing much about it. Was keen to go but not if there’s a few hundred, need thousands

I'm taking my son.

If you're in Sydney, a WT fan, and you are upset about what has happened in the past week then you must go.

At the end of the day, I have no concern about how many people ultimately turn up. I'll be able to look myself in the mirror and know that I personally tried to bring about change.

Another point - even if mainstream media don't cover it, social media will - that will be enough to put more pressure on HBG.

My son and I are going as well

Yep, heading up from the South Coast. It's a bit of a mission but it is important enough for me to commit to it, in fact for me this is a fork in the road because if nothing changes, I will likely cancel my Fox and not watch NRL at all.
I'm passionate about this though and want to give it every chance.

Wests Tigers majority owners Holman Barnes Group has agreed to an NRL demand that the independent directors – led by deposed chairman Barry O’Farrell – be returned to the club board just 10 days after they were sacked.

O’Farrell, Annabelle Williams and Michelle McDowell are set to be returned to the club’s board as independent directors. However, sources speaking on the condition of anonymity to maintain confidentiality have indicated the fourth board member sacked, Charlie Viola, is unlikely to take up his seat again.

the 4th independent is critical for majority
