The SMH is reporting that Wests Tigers are going to extend Benji Marshall’s contract until the end of 2029 in a bid to provide stability. Seriously?

The idea that this extension brings stability is laughable. Given how often this board backflips, 2029 may as well be whenever they feel like changing their mind again — which could be tomorrow!

I was not trying to cause issues with others on here but I detected a change in @joel-helmes responses to recent issues (like posting a pic of Dennis Burgess and calling him a termite) that reminded me of the level of comment on that other WT forum that i gladly never read or contribute to again. From memory Joel did and, perhaps, still does?

I interpreted that, possibly wrongly, that this forum is missing the moderating influence of those who left. I've never listened to Joel's podcast, or any others for that matter. I don't need to. I'm not looking for confirmation bias or any validation from anyone.

I look forward to Joel's presence and input into the rally on Saturday.

This may be a minor or trivial point in a much bigger mess but I have found it interesting (to say the least) that those fans/members who have requested refunds from the club and cancellation of their 2026 memberships have been refused that request on the basis of "change of mind" not being an acceptable reason for refunds. On the other hand (or should I say with the other hand) HBG who agreed to and appointed 4 independent board members, have now sacked them and retaken control on the basis of "change of mind" and to them this is acceptable. Perhaps it is just indicative of how much the average punter is valued by this reprehensible management group and even further how much this great club of ours is valued by that same reprehensible management group.

You understand that the membership staff were the same staff that were there two weeks ago and have nothing to do with HBG, as is the case with all of the management staff at Concord?

I as well came to this forum from that other forum because at the time this forum, and the people involved in putting it together (as well as the podcast) were interested in putting together a community without the bitterness and trolling and a sense of freedom not present at the other forum. I loved this forum and the podcast as a result. I has been truly a special small community because of that.

For me the scales fell from my eyes around the time of the second petition. I objected to it and thought it was counterproductive and was an overreach. I said so at the time and calmly and deliberately put my case why I felt like that. Joel explicitly said that if I wasnt 100% on board I could leave, and I did for a long time. At that time this forum and the podcast lost its magic for me. It isnt a place for fans to share their opinions in a friendly community, its a place to agree with Joel.

I reluctantly came back late this season because I had fond memories of this community. I have friends here and its the only place I discuss my beloved Tigers, but unfortunately the treatment of Eddie, Steve and Garry has completely reinforced the path of this place.

I chimed in on your previous post because you are not alone in noticing these changes. Its a real shame. This place was a great place.

A couple of things, firstly I’ll point out that no one’s comments have been deleted or has there been any moderation despite the criticisms of me (criticisms that are unfair imo).

Second, yes I’ve been more outspoken lately (i think echoing the position of many of my fellow Tigers) and more willing to put up boundaries where necessary to ensure that I continue to enjoy doing what I do in this space and on the pod.

No one has been hard done by or prevented from doing anything and to the boys that aren’t on the pod any longer I wish them nothing but success and enjoyment in whatever they do.

If you want to discuss things further I’m more than happy to converse via the direct message function, or, should you choose, exercise your right to not visit or listen.

So this is your space and pod? Those that disagree with your opinion should leave because its your forum and your "boundaries"? Simply for having an alternative opinion? I never used to have the impression that this is "anybodies" forum or pod and that is part of what was so good about it.

And I ask, who is making these decisions given we have 4 board members kicked off and no CEO???

@joel I think there is only one person at this stage pulling the strings TBH ! When an organisation starts making decisions on the run there are real Issues . This situation has blown up in there faces bigger than they every expected how they did nor realise this is astounding. They are never going to stop the bleeding no matter how much they try this is just the start of the revolution!

That response could be straight of a HBG media release; that's right, the mob we are rallying against on 13/12.

Agree. Like any coach, he should only be extended on merit - not to mitigate an own goal.
