Get the horn hat and facepaint out as you march to HBG HQ lol

HBG are absolute clowns and an embarrassment to the proud western suburbs magpies name

NRL please step in and take the licence and allow someone else to have a crack at running the show.

Richo is allegedly now being investigated by nrl integrity unit following a whistle-blower tip off.

this place is a shambles guys

What if it's not a beat-up as you, and others who refuse to believe any criticism of Richardson, suggest?

It’s not hard to assume that HBG are trying to manipulate the narrative and save face (and possibly lots of dollars) should he exit on Monday (triggered by the HBG not upholding their end of his contract).

Billionaire Arthur Laundy has unveiled a surprise plan to buy the Wests Tigers amidst the fallout from the sacking of four independent board members.

A Sydney pub baron, Laundy is a major sponsor of the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs and lifelong Balmain Tigers fan.

The billionaire has revealed he will explore the possibility of buying out the Holman-Barnes Group, who currently own 90% of the Wests Tigers, and have come under fire for firing four independent board members after nine months in the job.

“It would be the only way they are ever going to survive,” Laundy told The Daily Telegraph.

“I can’t see how this (joint venture) can ever work so I’d be happy to look at buying Wests’ 90 per cent.

“Yes, I’m certainly prepared to look at it.

“I have a soft spot for Balmain, and I will always be a Balmain person."

The Daily Telegraph reports the Wests Tigers would be valued at $45-50 million dollars, with Laundy potentially tipping in $20m, and the remaining $30 million to be from a collection of other businessmen.

We don’t need a Balmain person/group or a Wests Magpies person/group owning the club. We need a Wests Tigers person/group owning the club.

laundy a better option that HBG

No he is not.

you can't back these HBG clowns against anyone

We need a Wests Tigers owner. Nothing else will resolve the issues hurting the club.

he would be a wests tigers owner for God sake HBG sure as hell are not

No he wouldn’t. His statements make that plain as day.

so we should stick with these HBG magpie muppets then ?

come on down Laundy, he wouldn't drop the wests and call them balmain and play out of campbletown

No we should not stick with HBG. We need a Wests Tigers owner. Not Balmain, not Wests Magpies but Wests Tigers. I think my thoughts are pretty clear on this.

Correct Mike, the status quo has proven to be unsustainable.

From what we've seen already from HBG this is an exercise to save them a payout.

I’d be happier with a custodian like wests rather than a private consortium

This Richo story is a clear mud throwing stitch from HBG. Richo publically disclosed the links with his son’s company at the start of his time here, this is not new. Thus just adds to the evidence that HBG is unfit to be involved in the club. Richo is very well known by nrl hq. I think this plays into our hands that the nrl will want clear of hbg forever

You’re not deterred given the track record?

im not totally against private ownership, I just do think that we are a club that is linked to the south west now so I would want an owner who was integrated into that idea. If a syndicate was happy to do that then I’m fine with private ownership.

The current majority owners have zero connection with the South West.

yes I agree. Our current owners are the Steven Bradbury of the NRL. They ran their club into the ground in the early 80s and again in the late 90s before running our club into the ground in the 2010s and 2020s. Nothing short of their removal as owners is now acceptable. What happens after that is what we need to think about. It’s somewhat encouraging that the article about Laundy quoted someone close to the club saying a significant bid might be considered. How this all relates to the NRL license is about unclear though because the NRL could just unilaterally revoke the license and run the club themselves or give the license away. My guess is that the NRL would prefer an option like wests group MacArthur because it is an obvious link to juniors and they are wealthy etc. I think they might even give it to them for free as long as independent board etc was confirmed

Petition started, not by us, but I'm supporting it.  https://c.org/KzT25bjzjP

Calling for the sale of WT from HB is massive overreach that will be counterproductive and will not fix the problem.

Dont get me wrong, at the moment HB IS the problem, but we need to be very careful about the solution we call for. Calling for new owners or teh sale from out under HB is petulant, superficial, irrational, counterproductive and  demonstrates a lack of understanding of the issues.

Last Sunday we were all positive about the direction of the club. This forum last podcast prior to last Sunday was testimony to that satisfaction. Last Sunday HB owned the club. So what happened and why is it a problem? HB stepped in and sacked the board and upended the whole direction of the club and all the foundations that they have been building on. It has caused INSTABILITY and this instability, if not corrected is going to cause Richo to walk, and probably Luai & Bula behind him. WE will have no chance or recruiting new players. The problem is the INSTABILITY.

The solution to this problem needs to directly address this core instability. Forcing HB to sell, besides probably being illegal, will cause massive disruption, probable court cases, take years to resolve. Finding a suitable buyer will similarly take a long time to resolve and even then there will be a prolonged period of instability as the new owners settle in and make their changes. It is no guarantee that new owners will be good owners. This will all result in another two years of turmoil and instability at a minimum and in my opinion our club wouldnt survive another two years of stability.

The solution to this problem, that provides IMMEDIATE stability and a return to stable good governance is for NRL (PVL) to step in and demand a return to independent governance, at risk of losing the license and for the NRL to provide a plan that ensures that HB remain independent to WT. Even if NRL appoint an administrator. This could be done immediately and not even impact the preseason.

The Wests Tigers Fans Unite guys have the response exactly right. Petitions to force HB to sell are ridiculous, and counterproductive. It will make the problem worse.

This is corrupt

Im Sure that the HBG directors have orchestrated this smear campaign to avoid a payout because their self interest broke the teams positive momentum again

Anyone who knows Richo will see through these allegations

Exactly. These concerns were raised and dismissed nearly two years ago. That they've made their made their way into the media today off all days is laughable. Pretty weak stuff from Chammas, being so blatantly used as a muckraker by HBG.

100% this is nothing other than HBG trying to extract Richo without paying him what he is entitled to in his contract.

Tiger5150. Thank you for this level headed and beautifully worded, solution based response amidst everything that is being said at this time. Instability is a definitely a major issue and reinstatement of board members to return to stability is definitely the quickest, cleanest and most economical way to solve this issue. You must be a lawyer or somehow engaged in the legal profession I think.
