What a poorly written article, He made it a lot more confusing than it needed to be by trying to be funny. Made no mention of the restructure to the board, got the ownership percentages completely wrong and didn't even get the name of the owners right.

Agree - just a muddled mess of factual errors and irrelevance.

A waste of everyone's time.

  1. For me, the long and the short of the article is that the West Tigers will remain.

yes it does imply that they can’t change anything we care about without Balmains approval. Which makes the whole WA self immolation even weirder

Which implies they are either ignorant, arrogant or both!

100% its just a lazy piece of muckraking for no purpose other than to generate clicks in the lull before Christmas. Embarrasingly poor journalism.

In other news...."Wests Tigers are a circus hur hur hur".

Its beyond boring and I think counter productive. NRL fans have heard it all before and reflects worse on the media than it does on the Tigers at this point.

Season will start and hopefully some wins will change the tide. If not, expect a year of Benji baiting in the media.

absolutely extraordinary podcast with Rick Wayde. Confirms everything that’s was feared about the revolt at WA. They want to intervene in the appointment of independent board members to WT and that they harbour plans (however ridiculous) to return the Magpies to NRL. Burgess is confirmed as the chief instigator of the recent blow up. Romero is confirmed as a patsy. It sounds like this is all going to come to a head in the weeks ahead.

What I didn’t get out of it is a clear indication of what the true motivations are of Burgess and Romero.

It’s simple, they don’t want to lose control which is what happened when the old guard was spilled as part of the review. Show me the incentives and I will show you the outcome. The old guard didn’t want to lose their special place in control of this prestige asset and they blew up the place in order to retain it. We are being governed by petty tyrants. Hopefully the discussed voting reforms at WA can put a stop to this.

The question though if it goes to a general vote will the members understand or care enough about the outcome? It seems like the actual club(s) under the HBG service their members needs effectively, the issue is just the football side which I would suggest most wouldn’t give two hoots about.
