From the original press release:

The changes are subject to legal approvals.

”Mr O’Farrell and Mr Richardson will take up their roles in the new year and oversee the transition to a new, seven director Board (comprising four independent directors, including the chair and a representative from each of the Wests Tigers shareholders).“

if there are not a majority of the WT being independent (and hence able to to out vote the WA cohort) then the review has been gutted.

@mercy-rule this is my read. They haven’t got a snow flakes chance in hell of bringing the magpies back.

Andreachio is the guy who commissioned and then embraced the report that spilled the WT board and led to the exit of Lee and Pascoe. A few months later he was removed as WA chairman and then 6 months later all the members of the WA board who were on the WT board that voted to accept the recommendations are now being removed from WA (as in completely being kicked out of HBG - they are banned from the premises) over what seems highly trivial reasons. This process is being run by the wife of a long time Wests head kicker and that weirdo Burgess who is also a Wests tragic who wants to bring Wests back to the NRL. We also learn that there are now only 18 debenture holders left which means they are not replacing the old ones that die and these debenture holders run everything at the club including electing all the office holders that run WA and ultimately control WT. There are serious serious serious governance issues and I do think the state government should get involved as this is a tax exempt special entity that is being run as a personal fiefdom for these special interests. We still have not heard about the new chairman of WT being confirmed or the new board members. My view is that Burgess and Romero want to blow up the recommendations but they are aware that it will cause giant public outcry and so for now have kept everything behind the scenes. We will learn from the structure of the new board and the appointees how successful they are

Great post. So true. The point too is this is increasingly more about HBG and less about WT (which is good).

Yeh, but maybe that was never the plan? Despite what serial embarrassment to corporate governance, Dennis Burgess, may, or may not, have said. The whole thing seems as flimsy and ridiculous as Spuddy Dutt's nuclear energy plans.

I might just add, if you love your Magpies that much go out with your flags and jerseys to Lidcombe and pretend it’s 1980 all over again. But leave Wests Tigers alone! 😡

As a leader of this forum, as you rightfully are, i find that comment of yours to be terribly disappointing and divisive of those of us invested in the long term future of the joint venture. What's the point you're trying to make; that the mob who wear their Victa jumpers are less worthy than the Philips mob?

Both the Victa and Philips mobs are welcome.

I would encourage all fans to retire them and purchase a New Pepper Money Jersey in 2025.

I respect the History as a Tigers fan for 35+ years

We need to drive forward.

@enumerator I agree. But that does not detract from the comment that @helmesy made. If anything, his comment could inspire the complete opposite of what you and I think is important.

Having made my point though, I don't envy his (or their) task in moderating comments on here that makes it infinitely more safe and inclusive than that other WT Forum.

This place is incredibly easy to moderate, for the most part it looks after itself which says a lot for the quality of poster here.

Personally, IMO its a mistake to think that this is part of a "plan". IMO the people involved arent that competent and that is the problem. From my experience this is the way these people think and their immediate thoughts are as far as any "planning" goes. Again IMO these two people need to be a long way from WT.

On a principle POV, reality, capitalism and self interest always wins. They way this ends IMO is the following:

1. WT start winning and being competitive, mostly due to the hard work of Richo, Benji (gets his due) and Andrecchio and the board members that commited to the change.

2. Completely separate to the WT, the board of HBG get sick of HBG getting dragged through the mud of the media. Surely there must be non debenture board members that have enough clout to try to stop this.

My comments are pointed at the Magpies fossils who through dodgy corporate governance still have some power over our club, Wests Tigers.

Same goes for anyone calling for Balmain to be back.

This is the problem. The majority of HBG board members must come from the 28 debenture holders. Members of the club can only vote for token minority board members.

Apparently there is now only 18 debenture holders.

sorry yes 18. Looking at the constitution of HBG and there are only meant to be 20 debenture and to be one you have to be invited to be one by the existing ones. The system is shockingly undemocratic. They are untouchable and it is designed that way for a reason.

Exclusive little club accessed by invitation only. And the fact you need an invite only makes for more politics and cronies.
