@garry 100%. This club is at a crossroads, stuff this up and the pain will continue for another decade.
I think it’s important to bring in people that have an affinity with an understanding of Wests Tigers, but also have a strong background external to rugby league and the club.

I better withdraw my application then.😂😂😂I really hope we get high quality applicants for these positions. Hopefully this sets our club up to be a powerhouse.
I wonder how Elevate Talent secured the gig to manage this recruitment of non-exec board members? Why them? What is their profile and reputation in this area of business? I'm assuming they're not a Brydens equivalent of the legal profession? God, I hope they have some credibility.
I emailed for a copy of the Candidate Brief and read it carefully. Did any others on here do the same? If you did, you know we can't discuss the specifics of it or share it. But I'd be interested in general thoughts of others.
I'm happy to post this bit which is publicly available:
The new Independent Directors will complement the existing Board.
Interested persons will be of the highest integrity, possess strong
governance skills, display sound judgment, and have a proven track
record in change management that has led to a successful culture.
I wonder how many of the existing (interim) Board (i.e. the proper one who has the power of veto over decisions of the non-executive directors) would successfully match those descriptors?

I have read the brief, nothing really stands out. Its a pretty typical approach, heavily leaning towards compliance with a smattering of areas more specific to the product. The reality is the independent non exec will be constrained by what the organisations constitution dictates....that's where you will know if the non exec seats have any teeth.I emailed for a copy of the Candidate Brief and read it carefully. What does Non Exec Mean?
What does Non Exec Mean?
A non-executive director (abbreviated to non-exec, NED or NXD), independent director or external director is a member of the board of directors of a corporation, such as a company, cooperative or non-government organization, but not a member of the executive management team. They are not employees of the corporation or affiliated with it in any other way and are differentiated from executive directors, who are members of the board who also serve, or previously served, as executive managers of the corporation (most often as corporate officers). However, they do have the same legal duties, responsibilities and potential liabilities as their executive counterparts.

Thx Joel,
You guys are quite knowledgeable
I was more interested in the context of this organisation and the wests tigers.
Do.we have any indication of remit?
@enumerator Remit? As in payment? From my reading of it, it's pro-bono, which I think means there is no payment?
The board is meant to review and approve the strategy that management (ie the CEO and his/her team) wants to pursue and then to hold them accountable for success or failure of the strategy. The board should not be involved in the day to day management of the entity. The board typically should bring skills that are diverse and complementary and can be seen as advisors to the management of they have a particular skill set but in general the independence between board and executive is critical to good corporate governance
For those who have read the Candidate Brief, how many people, Exec and Non-Exec, will be on the new Board? It's not clear to me.
Is it 7 people or 11 people? I'd like to cut-and-paste the section I don't understand, but I'm preserving the integrity of the process so that's not allowed (even though I'm not submitting my EOI response and CV, which will be a massive relief to many on here lol).
That is correct, there is no payment. Usually non-exec roles are a bit of a safety net/sounding board for the exec. They tend to meet once a month as the whole board (chair, exec, non-exec) to review financials and strategy and ensure that things are on track and heading in the right direction and provide advice in their own areas of expertise or vote on decisions regarding strategy, direction or potentially decisions that may impact the clubs reputation (like the josh ado carr, ezra mam situations). They do not tend to have any personal liability as the role is unpaid. They also take part in events attend games, awards nights, represent the club in external events etc.. generally help network for the club.@enumerator Remit? As in payment? 7 board members made up of 1 independent Chair 3 independent (non-exec) board members and 3 exec board members from HBG. So they are recruiting the chair and 3 non-exec board members...the independent chair is currently Barry O'Farrell and you would expect he would get the gig ongoing unless someone much more impressive comes along. For those who have read the Candidate Brief, how many people, Exec and Non-Exec, will be on the new Board? Anyone have any info about major sponsor for next season?
I don't know about anyone else... but I am pretty keen for a new jersey that does not have a massive Brydens logo on it.
Would be nice to freshen up the design a bit also.
