@garry yeah who needs tackling breaks, offloads and general intimidation on the field when you have Luke Garner.

That is a little bit of a strawman argument.

@declan That’s a little disparaging of Luke considering he’s on less than half the coin of TPJ.He was playing really well in the last couple of games before his injury.I know he’s had a few unforgettable moments, but he is young and still maturing.

@helmesy absolutely. We will never be a decent team with Garner in the 2nd row

Frustrating thing is I reckon Garner could be so much more. I’m not sure what’s stopping him from breaking through.

I don't think he has the mentality either.  I think he is happy with being an NRL footballer.

That would be nice, reckon he needs a change of scenery.

@helmesy I recall one Chris Heighington in his first couple of seasons was full of mistakes and dropped ball, but ultimately what a player.Luke is not marquis, but will develop, and serve his purpose.I wish we could helicopter in the creme de  la creme but easier saidthan done....but we’re getting there.Year of the Tiger!

Garner can hit a hole but lacks the power game and tackle busting ability of the top 2nd rowers in the league. Plus his tackling leaves a lot to be desired.

@tigerinzurich His arm grabbing is not up to scratch as K-mart security trying to prevent elderly shoplifters from leaving

😆 Perhaps I was being generous in calling some of his attempts tackles.

In saying that, he has put on a couple of big hits if my memory serves me right.

Id argue that we might have better players coming through but with such a young side we can't afford to lose players 23 and over.

This puts more pressure on the club to sign established players for 2023.
