Our roster was was always in terms of talent and skill be at or near the bottom of all the teams. Than we had the injury god turn on us and make our roster even weaker. Anyway I guess who ever was coaching us would be on a hiding to nothing.
In saying the above, you still expect your side to show some direction and urgency, and our side shows nothing. So I think it is probably time for a new coach with a new vision. Although till the roster is over hauled big time, nothing will change.

He has had 4 off seasons to improve the roster. To improve the players.

If you go back 7 days, most people were saying the team was playing noticeably different in both attack and defence.
But today was bad and too much like last year. I still want to wait to judge Madge after at least 10-15 games. even if we don’t win the majority, I want to see a committed team showing effort which we didn’t see today.
Our squad would is better next year, but this year our squad is unbalanced - really missing leadership. Don’t know why we didn’t go hard to frizell or finucane last year. not sure if that’s on Madge or admin.
I’m a Madge fan but he needs to seriously pull this team together and do it quickly

There is maybe a 10% chance things turn around IMO.
The lack of balance in the squad sits solely with madge. He is the reason why a player comes to us or leaves for elsewhere. We have seen him going to meet players in cafes and restaurants e.g Nanai last week. The club would tell you there is a recruitment /retention committee but that is crap.
Players dont want to play for him. We havent signed anyone of any profile since he joined the club. It's that simple.
Whoever the next coach is they need to be able to bring players. Absolutely plain and simple.

No, that’s right. Only thing is, with that logic Terry Lamb would still be coaching us. Sometimes a guy just doesn’t have the answers/strategies and isn’t right for a position.
So many decisions that supposed experienced NRL players made yesterday were illogical .....that 1st kick Hastings tries to snap up was going to end up closer to the Gold Coast than the ingoal ..and it just got worse from there .....you can't blame Madge for making poor on field choices ...he deserves some blame for the talent ...but so do many others at teh club who remain basically nameless in all this

I was ready for him to go at the end of last year, once the club made the decision to stick I had to give him a chance going into this season. Today it was evident that nothing has changed and that press conference was terrible.
These are my thoughts exactly. Even though I am not expecting to play finals this year, I was expecting to see resilience, effort plays and better structures in attack and defence, but I see nothing.

Cleary got them to do it, with arguably a weaker squad. Why have they gone backwards under Madge?

Having Bellamy or Robinson in charge would have a significant impact. They're excellent strategists and they're good man managers, Madge is neither of those things.
They would also most likely have a better recruitment strike rate.
