Ohh. Nice pic. You're less ugly than I first anticipated. Go you!!My apologies to Danny Stapleton. I was referring to Chairman Mouth (Lee H) in being punted.Fine. And he should be punted.Look its as simple as this...
Any "Boss" that cannot take criticism from those within that are all trying to aim for a successful entity obviously has some superiority complexes that aren't good.
Maybe... just maybe if Justin Pascoe had a calm discussion with this bloke and listened and took his comments on board there would not have been a heated discussion in front of sponsors in the first place.
not sure it’s that simple. Pascoe reports to the WT where WSDRL club have a seat. If anything this bloke is closer to Pascoes boss
No they don't? Only Wests Ashfield has seats (and 2 for Balmain). WA then fund the junior comps under their charter. Wests Football Club has no ownership or oversight whatsoever of Wests Tigers.
That is not correct, the Wests Tigers are owned 90% by Wests magpies Pty ltd, which is made up of 66% Wests Ashfield and 33% WSDRLC. WSDRLC also holds one seat on the Wests Tigers board.
Balmain own 10% and have 1 seat.
Thanks for clearing up and apologies for the mistake. I couldn't find any reference at all to WSDRLC ownership and it's become even more murkier since they incorporated Holman Barnes. However I can see now the info is on the Wests Magpies website.
What I find misleading is that although Wests Magpies is apparently 66% Wests Ashfield and 33% Wests District, Holman Barnes (AKA Wests Ashfield) hold a 4/3 majority at Wests District and 100% of the Wests appointees to the Wests Tigers board are Holman Barnes directors.
So who exactly is the Wests District representative at Wests Tigers and what does that mean if they simultaneously represent Holman Barnes? It almost makes the 66/33 split meaningless if Holman Barnes put all their people on the WT Board and control voting on Wests District.
Lee H = independent Chair
Tony Andreacchio - he is part of WSDRLC but he's also a Wests Ashfield member and Chairman of Holman Barnes
Dennis Burgess - from Wests Ashfield and also a director of Holman Barnes
Simon Cook = CEO of Wests Ashfield
James Myatt = director of Balmain
Julie Romero - another director of Holman Barnes
Danny Stapleton - Balmain background and Chair of Wests Tigers Football Committee - I will have to assume he is one of the "independents"
Rick Wayde = comes from Wests Magpies football club but also director of Wests Ashfield, and is also on Holman Barnes
I actually asked this exact question of the club yesterday, it really is a convoluted mess in reality. Danny Stapleton is one of the independents. Now in relation to WSDRLFC and their representation on the Wests Tigers board, the only place that is stated is on the Wests Magpies website. From my discussion yesterday I am not sure they have a seat, though they do have representation at this point in time through the guys you mentioned. I don't think it really matters if they do have seat as the WSDRLFC is completed controlled by the Holman Group (Wests Ashfield) as they appoint the majority of members to that board.
It is interesting as a very small number of people essentially have control of the Holman Group (Wests Ashfield), WSDRLFC and Wests Tigers as the majority of seats on the boards of WSDRLFC and Wests Tigers are appointed by the Holman Group. The board of the Holman Group is made up of 2 directors elected by the general membership of Holman Group (Wests Ashfield). The other 5 directors come from the Debenture Holders of the Holman Group, this is only 20 people. In reality those 20 people have control of all 3 boards and are the only people who can make genuine changes at board level throughout the clubs.
Im not sure on what planet Danny Stapleton would be considered "independent". Many generations at Balmain.
That is correct but he fills one of the independent seats on the board.
What has Danny Stapleton done to be worthy of being punted?

Wests Ashfield annual report just released. Highlights:
1) the club put about $15m in the COE on top of the government grants
2) Wests Magpies, WSDRLC and Wests Tigers are all consolidated controlled entities
3) underlying net earnings for the year were $15m (up from $10m prior year)
4) pokie revenue was up $12m to $40m
5) Net Asset was $70m and the club has basically no debt
I have significant issues with the way they choose to run the Wests Tigers but Ashfield is a very wealthy club and appears to have the economic capability to easily support the NRL team.

I agree with you, but would caution that all of those increases in revenue would reflect the club (particularly pokies) coming out of COVID restrictions so I wouldnt put too much emphasis on the increases. Id be interested in what last years figures look like compared with 2019.
I'm no accountant so may be missing something
But how are they collecting $40m from pokies, plus revenue from other streams but only clearing $15m?
Is it going to sport investment or business loss?
Top 8 2023
Employee expenses $33m and pokie taxes of $10m are the two biggest expenses. These are consolidated accounts so the employee expense includes salaries of players and coaches etc
