Look, it's a bad look on everyone's account.

But,  Lee's letter is in writing and doesn't come across well.

Vitriol is his favourite word. I think the club (Lee and Justin) need to be more confident in answering legimate questions, in any forum.

Should of been handled in a much better way, that looked to build bridges rather than burn them

WSRLFC is very important to WT. The boss of WSRLFC was invited to one of the most important functions in recent times for WT and he behaved in a manner that could be detrimental to WT (potentially could cost sponsors). He got called on it and he went to the media with it which again certainly hurts the club.

Simple question for everyone bagging Lee. Next time the WT have an important function, who do they invite from WSRLFC? Do they invite the guy who bad mouthed his hosts to sponsors and then ran to air the clubs dirty laundry with the media?

Re-read the last line of that article. "Hagipantelis and Pascoe were contacted but declined to comment."

I don't think there is a winner in that argument, they all come across really poorly.

Agree. Ridiculous on both Pascoe and Cavanagh's behalf to let a disagreement end up as a public stoush at a sponsor function.

Cavanagh may have some points, but there's a time and place to make them - and even more so as the WS chair. He obviously knows he's on his way out, hence him leaking all the details to Weidler so that he can attempt to save some face, and get some of this stuff out in the open.

There is definitely a veneer of arrogance that I see from the club (as a layman), which is rather grating given how poorly run we've been for such a long time.

Goodbye dinosaur

Except Cavanagh is spot on. Lee and JP are oblivious to the roles they played in the downturn of Wests Tigers. It’s always someone else’s fault and they have no self examination of how they contributed.

A pretty easy argument to make. IMO its also a pretty obvious thing that you do not make that argument at the most important function as a guest of WT in front of sponsors.

@tiger5150 when do you want him to raise his concerns?

You expect us to be professional and do it behind closed doors in a private meeting or something?

Surely out in public at the clubs seasons launch is the most authentic WT place to do it.

🙃

Aren't we bringing back our WT DNA?

LOL, point well made.

My own little private "dinosaur" anecdote. I am old Balmain. My Dad, family and family friends have a close link to the Balmain Tigers. I used to go to the WT GF Luncheon every year. One year pre 2005, I was invited to the GF Luncheon as a guest of Steve Ghosn which was a bit weird (because he is obviously from the Maggies side) but he is a great bloke and we had a great day. During the day we started a bit of a drinking club with some ex Balmain players (in those days Mick Pobjie was kinda family).

At the end of the luncheon (at La Montage, Leichhardt) , Steve Ghosn and I with a heap of other jumped on the WT provided bus which was supposed to take people (I think) to Ashfield. A heap of people, including current WT players and past Balmain asked the bus to drop people off at Balmain Leagues club. Everyone, including the bus driver was very happy to do that and we did. When we got to Balmain Leagues, the old guy behind me seemed to work out what was going on and started going off his brain. "WTF are we doing here?!??!" yelling and screaming. I stood up and told the old bloke to shut up and calm down as we stood up to get out. The old guy stood up and punched me in the back of my head. I stood up and turned around and grabbed him by the shirt, didnt do anything else because he was obviously an old bloke but at the time Troy Wozniak (current player) also stepped in and told th eold bloke to sit down.

All good and Steve Ghosn, Benny, Sirro, Scott Gale (at the end of his life) and a few others went in and had a great night. Later Steve Ghosn told me that the old bloke was a Wests Ashfield director and everytime I hear of "dinosaurs" (on either side) I think of that old bloke getting upset because the bus stopped at Balmain Leagues.

True that… but it was probably the only place that they would actually take notice of the criticism of themselves. At all other opportunities they are just blind to it. But agree it wasn’t the place to do it. I would say it was done then out of pure frustration of being ignored.

How anyone can say anything other than this is cringe is beyond me .

Lee comes across like the kid in school who’s a loud mouth , but runs to the teacher every time someone challenges him on his bullshit .
and this cavanaugh bloke is literally everything that is wrong with Wests/ Balmain . Every single board member who’s Wests /Balmain first should be put out to pasture . The entitlement is beyond me.
Just because you don’t like the management doesn’t give you a right to carry on like a dickhead in a public forum .

You either arrange a one on one , or you organise a time where you submit a presentation for the board , airing your issues .

And to leak it to the media , most notably the biggest muck raker of them all in Weidler , is instant dismissal stuff .
It’s a symbol of a systemic issue with all board members across all forms of this club .
And most have no idea how to run a football club , which is why we had to merge in the first place .
Pawcoe is good with money , but abysmal at running the footy side of things , and lee , to be honest comes across as a well dressed used car salesman . He doesn’t even strike me as being a good lawyer . He strikes me as a guy who made his fortune settling with insurance agencies . Whether that’s fair or not , he presents an extreme lack of social intelligence IMO . He might be book smart , but I don’t know how that guy was ever a good lawyer .

Cavanaghs behavior, particularly the time and place is disgraceful and inexcusable, despite what many think of the WT board, Lee & Pascoe. Lee's letter specifically says its not an isolated incident and there have been other incidences.

Seriously don't know how people are lumping this on WT. Sounds like they have done the right thing.

@tiger5150 I think more than 2 things can be right at the same time , as well as 2 things can be very wrong .

As much as I have no issue with a complaint being made to wests , the wording and victimisation to me , gives off multiple red flags  from Lee and Pascoe .
But this cavanaugh bloke gives off huge “insufferable jerk “ vibes . This is just one platform and forum for this guy . How bad does he behave behind the scenes if he’s this tone deaf in front of them .

as lee says in the letter, this isnt the first incident, then Cavanagh leaks to the press. QED for me.

happy to be corrected but I believe WSDRL have a seat on the WT board so presumably there might have been opportunity for said Dinosaur to raise his concerns in an appropriate forum, like perhaps a Board meeting.

I agree that the club has been poorly run for such a long time. And, I say good on this Cavanagh dude for calling out the arrogant duo of Chairman Mouth (Lee, the Ambulance chaser) and Justin (how's my hair?) Pascoe for their part in the rubbish that has been dished up for members and fans over the extent of their tenure. I stand with Cavanagh. More please.
