I reckon to fix the WT we need to gut it from top to bottom.

Replace Lee. Chairman shouldn’t be our major sponsor. Should be independent.

CEO. We need a battle hardened administrator to run this club, Pascoe isn’t it.

Coach. For obvious reasons.

All players except Stef and AD.

What we need to do can't happen and will never happen unless the NRL comes in forces the changes within the club ...we were doomed from the beginning unless we had success and possibly managed to get Bellamy

But even then I could see jealous bodies in the top spots getting rid of Bellamy ......

We need to do many things but for a start we should;

1. change two members of the board (what they are doing is not working so two have to go)

2. employ a media spin doctor- upset the current narrative about us in the media

3. support the coach or get rid of him- I get the impression Madge does not have autonomy over team selection or if he can drop certain players

4. put the players on notice- perform to their ability or move them on

I could go on and on .........

I just don't understand how no one seems to know:

  • Why we can't sign other players. Is it cos of Madge, the club, the playing group, all of the above etc
  • If the players don't like the way they are coached
  • If the game plan is the issue or players aren't following it

These seem like very valid questions that should be easily answered. I am surprised that it isn't leaked through other means too, like surely people know how we are viewed by other clubs and players. Not just that we are a joke but why?

The biggest issue is we accept mediocrity too readily

Like when I see fans saying we are at the same level as the Broncos , Cowboys , Dogs , Warriors and act like that is an acceptable level ...we need to stamp it out

Bare minimum of acceptance should be Top 8 .....acceptable should be Top 4 and minimum of prelim final .....if we don't reach that level a million questions need to be asked across the board

2010 and 2011 should be the barest minimum's ...and they are our 2nd and 3rd best seasons .....not acceptable Messers Pascoe .....Board ......Lee ...Recruitment and Retention ....coaching staff ....most of all Players ...we have too many Playas .....

Find a way to make everyone accountible would help greatly asap

Correct. Issue is there’s a lack of win at all costs attitude running through the organisation, especially at the top.

Milestone

As I've said many times the membership numbers are meaningless unless they are accompanied by a detailed breakdown of the membership types. Revenue from Memberships would be a far more useful metric to measure the clubs success and I can't believe that this is not falling.

Sometimes there's no option but to accept it - in the short term. We all know there's been a revolving door of coaches and their favoured signings and until we get well past that we don't go past mediocrity. It's foley to say "I'll no longer accept mediocrity" when we have contracts and legalities which constrain us.

My point is, it's not a failure to accept what's currently happening - it's pragmatic as it can't be willed to change overnight. I don't like it anymore than the next fan, but I am a realist. 2023 shows signs of progress.

It’s certainly a conundrum.

Do we keep going with the same people governing and managing the club, but expect a different result? Or do we take a broom to the place, and expect something different?

With the exception of the NRL grant Chairman Lee puts the most money into the club, so he figures (not unreasonably) that he should have a Board position. We could say to him that his time is up, but would need to accept the risk that we need to compete in the busy Sydney market for the limited supply of corporate dollars to replace Lee’s money. And do we replace a CEO who’s not been able to get us to the finals, or recognise that he’s been effective in making the club become financially stable, made the COE a reality, and has put a structure in place via Sheens to let the experts look after the football?

The situation of the coach is really difficult as well. It’s only been in the last year or so where the Tigers head coach no longer has had to spread himself right across the football department and compensate for the decisions (sadly some pretty poor ones) of the folks in charge. Can Madge flourish in the much more sustainable structure we have now and get a tailwind from investment in the development pathways? Should we give him that chance to see out the current contract and perhaps even extend again? I do worry that the game has passed his methods by, or he’ll never be able to improve the roster because we aren’t a preferred destination for players and their managers.

I don’t think we can make any decisions until the Board decides and articulates the purpose and objectives of the club. Are we intent on being a nice club with a big membership base but ultimately never a threat to the influential clubs? Or do we want to own Inner and South West Sydney, recognise and value our history while celebrating the JV and become influential ourselves?

And what are the success factors that tell us we are on track to achieving our objectives – revenue base of x, junior participation rates of y, % of junior players promoted to grade level, graded players retention rate etc, etc. Vague comments from the club about wanting to play finals football doesn’t do it for me.
