I think a 2 ground approach if CS and LO is the best - as it reinforces our supporter base, tradition and tribalism.

However at least one of those grounds needs to be able to hold at least 27-30k. We are a professional NRL team and need the ability to average 25k (we have 20k members now after 10 years out of finals)

Whichever ground can hold 27-30k should hold 7-8 games.

I doubt LO has capacity to hold even 20k? Brooky upgrade still only has capacity of 17k.

Unfortunately the club have not been advocating for 27-30k stadium at CS so have we missed the boat to get funding?

This is pretty close to on the money, however I believe there may be a push from the club for a new stadium out at Campbelltown it is just happening behind the scenes.

@garry if one gets i and the other 3 then the one that gets 3 basically gets left behind. In relation to fairness that should not happen.

Either way the club will lose season ticket holder supporter I think whatever way they go with it.

Would like to see the data on LO season ticketed members vs Campbletown season ticketed members vs dual membership

I have all three venues but speaking to marketing person at wests tigers he was saying in relation to Leichardt Oval they have plenty of members who are just Leichardt Oval. The actual stats might be interesting to see

that is probably where we are at as a club we are joint venture two parts of Sydney we are not one part like Parramatta or Penrith and never should we be in my opinion.

I don't think the dragons would ditch Wollongong or do a 8 at logarah and 4 at Wollongong as an example or 8 at Wollongong and 4 at kogarah the fans would riotyou would think

Not that they are particularly well run either

We need a ground that can hold around 25k, that just isn't going to happen at LO and it is my favourite place in the world to watch footy.

REcord crowds (without looking them up) at LO are around 22K (and I was there) and it was packed and felt packed but it was exactly the same set up as it is now. Probably totally unsafe and we would never even try to squeeze that many in enough, but it wouldnt take much to squeeze another 2K in individual seats etc. If we could get LO (or CSS) to 23-25K, IMO thats perfect.

FWIW, my $0.02 on abandoning CSS....I was born in Balmain Hospital, my dads photo is in the foyer of Balmain PCYC, grew up at LO and I love it, however I would never feel comfortable abandoning CSS for LO. Two main reasons, firstly and pretty good nursery out there if used properly and secondly it gives us a "reason" to exist. Whilst we can point at representing this massive "growth area" ("" because I dont necessarily think it corresponds to growth in RL players or fans), we can point to a reason to exist. Representing, Ashfield, Rozelle & Concord...not so much......IMHO.

At the moment the capacity is sub 20k

https://www.smh.com.au/sport/nrl/it-will-fade-away-council-accuses-state-government-of-allowing-leichhardt-oval-to-fall-into-ruin-20220513-p5al6l.html

They have vowed to retain the Keith Barnes Stand at the southern end of the venue as well as the Wayne Pearce Hill on the eastern sideline to retain the charm of the venue.

“That’s not negotiable,” Byrne said. “The rest of the ground, you could have one continous, large-scale grandstand that provides modern seating and other amenities that will provide the allocated seating that clubs and codes need, so they will make a return on playing at Leichhardt Oval.”

@garry a contiguous wrap around stand along the western and northern ends of the stand maybe gets you towards 22-25k.

does that change where you would play the majority of games?

$300m for a stadium in Penrith is a disgrace. That’s $1,400 for every person would lives in Penrith or $16,000 for each panthers member.

Would be a big project, there’s a fair drop off from the concourse down to road level there, not to mention the no doubt protected trees 😆

Inner West Council have not even done a masterplan yet, so have no idea what can actually be built, how many seats can fit and how much it will cost.

Yet PVL is negotiating with State Gov for $50m for LO.

I have no issue in playing 6 games at LO if that what the board deemed to strategically be in the best interests of the club.

However what I have very strong concern about, is the club have not outlined publicly what is in the strategic best interest of the club. And so PVL and IW Council are pushing their own agenda in the vacuum.

Pretty soon, the silence of WT board, will lead them to having limited options and being forced into an sub-optimal option.

Sounds to me that $50M we’ve all spent is a long way from a done deal. Partisan politics is a disgrace in this country. In fact, our whole political system is broken.
