I know that it’s a vexed issue, but whatever the case I believe we have to be playing predominantly out of one ground. We’ve essentially become roving nomads unable to develop our own foothold let alone fortress.
Watching the Sharks playing in front of a fanatical partisan crowd just reinforces the notion.Down to 11/12 men the packed house at Woolooware was having nothing to do with a loss, nor was the team.I know the Warriors were all over the shop but that partisan crowd has the ability to intimidate and also to influence and sway the referee.
As for the weekend, nobody tell me that Brookvale doesn’t become a factor of sorts.
I’m adamant that we need to become a predominantly one ground team with a nostalgia clause allowing a couple of games out of Leichhardt, otherwise we’re just chasing our tail.
It depends on what that one ground is and that is the core of the problem.
No way we have a Shark Park or Brooky atmosphere at Homebush or even SFS. Possibly at Bankwest but there are issues there as well.
To be honest the only ground that fits the bill that you are guaranteed that atmosphere (if we are winning) is Leichhardt and to a lesser degree CSS.
The trouble with Leichhardt is that it’s a logistical high density nightmare(as much as I love the place, and personally would love every game there),getting in and out isn’t too flash if you’re driving. That’s before you even step inside the ground and start considering refurbishments.
If you check the stats CSS has just as much pulling power as Leichhardt if we’re winning.Unfortunately there’s been precious little of that over the past decade.Still,to me it remains the logical choice. We have a footprint in the Macarthur, and would be stupid to relinquish it.
I think the "getting to LO" issue is overstated. When parking is open at Orange Grove, Ive never had a problem and public transport is as good as most grounds. Most grounds dont have great parking options other than Homebush.
I agree that CSS has as much potential as LO. Im biased and think the atmosphere is better at LO but they are similar type grounds with similar plusses and minuses. Transport better at CSS.
I agree. I’ve been going to Leichhardt oval for as long as I can remember. Always get a park up near the school or Orange Grove pub. As for getting away - it can take longer to get out of ANZ car park!!
It always seems to take longer to get out when we lose.
So true lol. Unless you storm out in a huff 25 minutes before full time!! But I’d never do that haha🙄😳

rugby types won’t want to admit it but LO is probably the perfect location. They are never going to be getting 40k at SFS
@tiger5150 but it is ok to do the reverse ? people were happy with LO only getting 3 games, so CS gets 3 games
look at the A League, professional sport cannot survive at campbletown it doesn't work

This is not an us against them argument.

Sorry Jedi but that’s a rather sweeping statement you make.
Check the archives. When we were winning in our Halcyon days 2005- 2011 we regularly attracted between 17,000 to 20,000 at Campbelltown whose capacity stands at 17,500.
Unfortunately, winning has not been an outcome in the last decade.
Proven fact, when we’re winning the crowds will follow no matter the venue, and that includes CSS.

I agree, and I think that’s a great sign for a Wests Tigers first mindset - rather than the old Balmain v Wests stuff.
I love Leichhardt for different reasons to Campbelltown, but I’m happy to leave either, or both, if there’s a better solution for Wests Tigers.

Plenty of support for Homebush among these supporters.

I 100% agree that’s it’s not an us vs them arguement. I don’t live near Campbelltown so a move there would be inconvenient for me but I would still support the club completely and try and get to as many games as possible. This is probably the most significant decision for the club to make for the next 10 years and I’m sure (hope) there is a lot going on behind the scenes that will mean we make the right decision. Given the economic outlook I tend to think the window for material investment in football grounds is drawing to a rapid close (now that we have won the rugby World Cup I assume Homebush will consume any further investment). A new ground at Campbelltown hasn’t been mentioned as in the mix at all and I must admit I’m confused about whether a Liverpool ground (low probability) will deliver on what Wests Tigers wants.
Only my view and i understand that it isn’t going to suit the greater supporter base but if I owned the club I would move to a SFS/LO model (SFS for night games/big Sydney derbies, LO for day games with interstate teams). I would then invest everything in the MacArthur region (junior academy etc) and show that community that they are a huge part of our club. Giving emerging talent from the south west a tried and true pathway to professional rugby league.
im not trying to start and arguement and I know it’s completely against others views, just expressing an opinion. Whilst the south west is a growth corridor, the inner west is accessible for several million people. I know where I would want to play my games.

Though there isn't option for even traditional homeground.

@garry just saying when fans were saying 8 games at campbletown most were going fantastic yet when it is potentially flipped fans are like oh no can't leave campbletown with only 3 games
put the junior academy out at campbletown and play 3 games a year there
@tigertownsfs Agree, play all the juniors at campbletown afterall the cup side is wests Magpies so play them at campbletown and the NRL W side. Build the academy and push the juniors out of CS

Yes,that’s a ludicrous sample.Reflects nothing.
@tiger-symmetry Macarthur A League is not going great, and CS never worked fors wests magpies in late 90's
in 2005 CS had good attendances and so did LO
I am all for 4 games at CS and 8 at LO

I think if Campbelltown can get a new stadium then we would be smart to play 8 at Campbelltown and 3 or 4 at Leichhardt. Unless this upgrade gets the capacity close to 25k we are pushing it to play more than 4 games there a season.
