@garry that might be the catch with the hill they probably can't get past 25k ?
@unhappy-tiger agree parking is a problem most people are probably used to parking mike's away and walking
I look at La Montage and remember when that used to be the old Apia football club and think geez balmain missed an opportunity not putting a leagues club there

I think 25k would be big enough but its fitting that many in without destroying the place.

I think 25k would work.
...but the cost isn't worth it if you have to change her soul
I’ve been going to LO since I was a kid (late 80s) but have only sat in the stand once (I think was one of the times where it was the “last game” and LO, I remember vividly a female streaker run the length of the field untouched). What’s it like these days in the main stand. I would it be a big deal if it got rebuilt and the rest of the ground remains more or less the same? It looks like a pretty inefficient use of its space right now.

Assuming we agreed to playing multiple games out of Leichhardt I believe once you start getting above the 12,000 mark you begin to raise the ire of resident action groups, let alone a 25 k stadium. It would very likely be stymied in the Land and Environment court before it gets off the ground.
a big stand tall and deep would be the go and behind the goals but problem is the figs in that regard
makes sense the club pushes hard for the upgrade given the COE is at concord

Yep. And if they think of doing anything to the trees overhanging the northern side they will have all sorts of protests.

Can't play more games in a stadium with 18k capacity

Council seems to support the upgrade so doubt there would be a planning issue. From the article it sounds like they are the ones who are going to do the actual plans
hopefully the upgrade stops the Liverpool / sared stadium discussion with the Bulldogs
Dogs will be in all sorts of trouble if we upgrade LO, Belmore sure as eggs will not be upgraded

I appreciate what you’re saying, but you only need a small number of dissenters/residents and the Land and Environment court can scuttle the Council, rule against and order amendments. There are a lot of people out there that are avidly anti-development of any sort period.
25k is a hell of a lot for the precinct and I believe would have a hard time being endorsed.Even with an 18,000 crowd,Lilyfield,Leichhardt,Rozelle,Balmain are at a standstill for a couple of hours after the game.

Someone running the length of the field untouched ...against the WT's ....nooooooo.....never ......

I remember a female streaker at Leichhardt in Balmain’s last game there in 94, not Balmain’s last game as a stand-alone club in 99.
