Call me crazy but why doesn’t COE at concord and Home games at CSS make a perfect combo. Keeping our foot in both camps. I personally don’t buy the “MacArthur won’t support a team that only plays there on weekends” arguement because in practice many professional teams have distance between them and the immediate community. What’s important to people is what the club does for their community and by all accounts the club is rapidly improving its treatment of the junior leagues out at Campbelltown. Maybe it won’t happen overnight but if a club is investing money in your kids and playing in your local region every other week I think that is a huge commitment and something that will engender support. The fact that the senior team trains at concord and offers the players a chance to live somewhere around the city centre (or indeed anywhere in Sydney given how central concord is and connected via motorways) is a bonus in my view.

I agree fully.

I think we need a 'home ground' to create "one club' and give us a real home so we become a club not a franchise.

To me CSS feels right and solidifies our identity problem.

You can still play 3 games at LO - as long as there's at least 8 at CSS.

The clincher is to get an upgrade so we can fit at least 30k.

I'd sign up for that arrangement. This is on the basis that we disregard the financial incentive to play at one of the stadia.

I'd still be nervous that we are giving up some potential ticket sales for big drawing games (particularly if we ever start winning). The best way to test it would be to just do it, even if just for a couple of years. The test will be a Parra game, Souffs at CSS or even LO. You would think anything under 18K is a failure.

If we don't get this decision right- we will eventually get one home ground - but it will be in Perth

One of the strategic things about Campbelltown is the Southwest is strategically so important and NRL are conscience of the AFL trying to muscle in.

So if WT are smart, they can use it to our advantage to get NRL support and funding for new stadium

I just don't see the point of the COE if we then play out of campbletown, if that is the case then the COE was clearly built in the wrong place.

In relation to the move to campbletown so we move from 3 games to 8 games per year so that extra 5 games a year is worth a move to campbletown? I am sure the bulk of our members do not live in the south west.

Still have a year before a state election, nsw government still need a big stadium for big international events, do not lose hope that Perottet will provide funding for this t9 be developed to attract big events. I am confident homebush development will be done and we will play bulk of games from homebush.

Yeah doesn't work without an upgrade.

To what extent do you expect Stadium Australia to be upgraded?

The COE is in the perfect spot regardless of where we play. It provides the opportunity for the players to live close to the city,

I think it will get a big upgrade bowl and everything. The big screen is going up too.

What I saw was draft designs from engineers with a curtain like structure that pulls down over the top levels with sponsorship to enclose the space

Again only drafts but I do think nsw libs will fund it and not local stadium as they get closer to election time

Yeah I think that’s the commonsense thing to do. Given the fallout from knocking down the SFS and big investment there I just don’t see taxpayers handing over a cheque for an all-new Homebush. Even if it was completely rebuilt you’d still have a stadium with more capacity that required for regular NRL matches. A really good makeover like what your saying makes sense and seems most likely outcome given the environment we’re in at the moment.

All I have seen is rough proposals the same group that put in the big screen and that got approved.

Did what you see include bringing fans closer to the ground ie: bottom level steeper?

it showed the seats coming forward at the goals, I don't think the sides were moved in or the seat gradient made steeper if that makes sense.

i know it is a work in progress as they are fitting the screen they are reviewing options for proposed amendments to the stadium. it will not be the knock down that was originally planned. These are only draft proposals from the engineers at present but they were commissioned by state government so they are looking at doing something

I think once proposals are through it will go to state government in time for election which is 2023

That's not enough to make a difference in my opinion.

Agree. If a revamp doesn’t bring us closer to the action it’s a non-revamp imo

Not sure what to make of this but it came from a good mate. His daughter who works at UWS was at a meeting recently where senior management were discussing projects to increase UWS profile in the MacArthur region. There was mention of the NSW govt spending 5 billion in Western Sydney although I haven’t heard about this. Anyway his daughter says the Uni has signed a MoU with Wests Tigers in relation to community sport in the region. A part of this seems to be plans for upgrades to Campbelltown Stadium as well as the possibility of a community based centre of excellence (yes, one of those again). Apparently waiting for govt approval of the funds late March. No mention of how much funding and obviously no news of this from Wests Tigers but interesting to see what comes of it next month or so.

The Wests Tigers have plans to build a junior academy in the MacArthur so the COE aspect could be in relation to that. I would hope the moving of games to Campbelltown would include plans for the stadium to be upgraded.
