It's laughable that WT would think that statement would do anything to placate a concerned and disillusioned members/fans group. If anything, the number of possible protesters at Accor on Monday should increase. I agree that Chairman Mouth and J-useless Pascoe have misread the room, yet again. Every could and should at that point move on.
Instead, Chairman and CEO put out another statement to drag the saga on. Further distracting players.
If they had consulted a PR firm prior this further statement would never have been issued. Read the room 🙁
I dont think the fans are the target audience for that statement, I think its a shot across the bow of certain members of the media to be careful about what they say and to not lie or be defamatory about the club.

I agree with this. Pointing out that Holsworthy barracks shared blame whilst perhaps technically true was terrible. The barracks was voluntarily helping the club (who was going to use the jersey’s to make money) and now they have been made to look like complete idiots. None of this is about the ANZAC sacrifice, it is about the club making money and for the army I assume it is about trying to make the army look cool/help recruitment. It’s now blown up in our face and I will guarantee you the club will double down next year and do another jersey to prove they can’t be bullied by the media.
i just wish the club would produce some nice heritage jersey’s because they would actually sell like hot cakes.

I just want to know if Canberra did in fact deny in writing that JP approached the Defence for advice. As I recall, Fox Sports displayed a statement that they put together. If Kent can't provide that then he should retract the statement.

Ends justifies the means? Wasnt it about 24hrs ago that this forum was up in arms with the suggestion that Pascoe lied? When Kent lies, about the club we supposedly love and support, alls fair?
More than one thing can be true at once. The club can be embarrassingly inept AND it can be totally unprincipled to lie on national TV about our club. Many here are willing and in fact happy to completely swallow any principles about what is wrong if it supports the narrative that Pascoe is in competent. I actually find it offensive.

Come on......I know we all want to jump in the pile on but lets be serious. EVERY club will wear a commemorative jersey for ANZAC day. If the Tigers were the only ones that didnt (because they didnt want to make money out of it), you and Kent and everyone else would be up in arms about the Tigers disrespecting the diggers.

Everyone will see what they wanted to see. 24hrs ago this forum was up in arms about Pascoe lying about collaborating with Holsworthy. Everyone here was up in arms about the club calling it a commemorative jersey and not an ANZAC jersey and the consensus was it was because the club knew that the soldiers werent Aussie. That statement explains that Pascoe didnt lie about Holsworthy (Photos back that up). The statement explains that it was a NRL directive not to call it an ANZAC jersey.
Im glad they made a statement because I want to know the truth. The truth matters to me. To others the narrative is more important to the truth and that statement doesnt support it. These are usually the same people who complain that the club isnt "open and transparent".
