And again why I have refused to consume any non-play content from Fox (I do watch matches on Kayo) for many years.

100% agree with what you've written, well said that man. I don't want to add anything in fear of spoiling such a good summation.

I wish I had your strength tuning out of foxsports. If you go to any pub/club's dosa area and mingle with the the crowd they will all agree that kenty and anus, I mean Ennis are flogs.

Why does foxtel keep them on?

Because they need content.

My Dad was a very early Foxtel adopter, around 1996, though I never really watched Super League, we were instead interested in the movies and the US TV shows. Back then Fox Sports was a single channel and they began to have rugby league shows that analysed the matches, a la Sunday Footy Show.

It was like that for ages, maybe 20 years - NRL on Fox etc., where they looked only at matches, previews and team lists. Fox Sports News ran the news items (remember Caroline Searcy); then Fox covered the weekend's matches.

After the success of the AFL Channel they decided to introduce the NRL Channel, which means they need content 24 hours a day. Some of it is really good, e.g. interviews, behind-scenes specials, classic matches etc. But included in that was the decision to run daily pundit shows, so they have to find at least 1-2 hours a day of NRL Current Affairs. Knowing how much tripe there is on the real A Current Affair, you will recognise that it's just not possible to have quality content when you are trying to generate some 12+ hours of product per day.

So it's not quality, it's quantity. It's a group of nobodies sitting around talking about their opinions. It's almost entirely journos and not ex-players, because ex-players are not trained to jibber and jabber endlessly about nonsense, in that way that Phil Rothfield has perfected over decades of working for the Telecrap. That's why you get nobodies like Paul Kent, Rothfield, James Hooper, who have an ability to talk baloney all day every day.

What I don't understand is why anyone watches it. I mean, you can slap an NRL logo on a turd, but it's still a turd.

I cant believe the club would do this.

They made the error.

The media piled on to them

The Club corrected the error with a new jersey.

Every could and should at that point move on.

Instead, Chairman and CEO put out another statement to drag the saga on. Further distracting players.

If they had consulted a PR firm prior this further statement would never have been issued. Read the room 🙁

I disagree MickeyB. IMO what Kent said about the club, lying about Holsworthy was so bad and so damaging to the reputation of the club, that it needed to be corrected and IMO the club have done the right thing here and in exactly the tone necessary. "We screwed up with the image but didnt lie..."

Just IMO clearly written by Lee (which is understandable if your chair is a litigation lawyer).

It's laughable that WT would think that statement would do anything to placate a concerned and disillusioned members/fans group. If anything, the number of possible protesters at Accor on Monday should increase. I agree that Chairman Mouth and J-useless Pascoe have misread the room, yet again. In the Deluded Turd Olympics I'm awarding a triple gold medal to Chair, CEO and Kent.

You have got my vote mate. Your podcast is good, maybe you can carry a whip and smack kenty when he starts yelling 🤣

I like Warren Smith and I'd like to see an ex-player like Gorden Tallis given a gig.

Atm it's journo top heavy.

Smith, Kent (if they must), that young fella who's name I cant pronounce...is it karadanas?? and Gordie. Now that would be balanced and still up tempo. More like good cop bad cop. Atm it's all cops that are dribblers and exaggeraters.

I dont think the fans are the target audience for that statement, I think its a shot across the bow of certain members of the media to be careful about what they say and to not lie or be defamatory about the club.

I met Warren Smith at training earlier this year, a really nice guy and Tigers fan.

That's cool. I knew about him being a fan, poor guy 🤣

I really think he could interact well with Kent and not be intimidated and go unto a shell.

He's really respected in a lot of sporting circles I hear.

I wouldn't mind having a chat with him for the pod at some point.

That would be awesome and totally a feather in your cap if you pull that off. 👍
