@helmesy if we can believe Paul Kent...

Tigers said they could suited with Holdsworth and Kent apparently contacted defence force in Canberra ? if I hear correctly on 360.

Pascoe should put his hand up that they used a stock image but I think Kent and Hooper etc on 360 need to make 100% sure the club didn't speak to someone at Holdsworth barracks to clear the photo.

I agree, it's an entirely different thing to use a stock photo that upsets some people or to lie about getting the army involved. But Paul Kent really needs to quote his sources because it's a huge accusation that turns a nothing issue into something large.

Personally I can cop Tigers being dumb, but not being liars.

Holsworthy does belong to the Army, so that technically falls under the ADF, but Tigers never said they consulted with the ADF. They said they specifically consulted with Holsworthy Barracks, i.e. the local Army depot.

It is entirely possible you ring ADF HQ and they don't know what you are talking about, because ADF also includes the Air Force and Navy.

Its a bad screw up by the club, no way of sugar coating it. IMO these allegations from Kent are worse and disgusting. He is intentionally twisting it to say what he is trying to say.

The little things can be addressed once the ship is back on even keel. Nobody cares about jersey PR if Tigers win football matches, which shows the daftness of it all.

Well said brother. I agree with your other comments but decided just to quote a snippet because all these replies are wearing my finger out. I wish members would use the quote function more often to speed up conversation.

All I want is our players, especially our latest signings, to buy into what the coaches want and band together.

Last game Twal was man handled to the ground by Haas and no-one stepped in to help Alex except our little hooker. It typifies where we are at as a team.

When AD threw an aweful pass he cursed and turned his back on the innocent team mate. That doesn't cut it for me.

The team needs to bond and bond quickly. Team spirit can get you through adversity.

Photographic evidence of Holsworthy and members of the Defence Force not collaborating with Wests Tigers. No doubt escorting Bateman and his mate off the premises.

Whether the Barracks technically reviewed/approved the image is not that important at this stage

Where the club has gone wrong was releasing a press statement spreading blame by including the army in the approval process.

It should of just owned up to the mistake and said they'd fix it. (Which they ended up releasing a 2nd press release today saying just that)

JP says he's accountable- accountable means taking responsibility for decisions and fixing them - not pointing fingers

I feel this could be his undoing

Having players front the media over this is bullshite.

I'm on the players side. I won't be turning my back on them come Monday.

We as supporters must be careful what we wish for.

Yep. It’s not the jersey - we all make mistakes.

It’s the not taking ownership that annoys me.

So, they lied to us about the ADF involvement.

https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nrl-premiership/nrl-2023-wests-tigers-jersey-fiasco-anzac-justin-pascoe-john-bateman-anzac-round/news-story/fc7b9c9f6a82252499e91004e5c12086

Pretty "slippery" article and wording by Kent. I understand the desire to put the boot into the Tigers at an obvious serious error, but kent says here "the Tigers lied about collaborating with the Defence Force" and "no one from Holsworthy Barracks had spoken to the Tigers."

This seems pretty shady. Arent the publicity photos with Bateman and the NRLW player (dont know her name sorry) taken at Holsworthy, on defence force equipment? Would be hard to do that without talking to Holsworthy or some level of collaboration. I'd have thought defence facilities would be reasonably secure. IMO Kent is being as slippery as he is accusing the club. Im sure DFAT said they didnt pick or provide the images but its almost impossible that there was no discussion.

Spoke to the club tonight, after recording a pod. They have said they did consult with Holdsworthy and Holdsworthy was very excited to be involved.

Well spotted mate. Kent would sit at that 360 desk and shout abuse at his own mother to make a story. He also would change his tune if needed.

I think the tigers had good intentions but letting the players or coach front the media about a non football playing matters is poor.

I wonder why Pascoe hasn't gone on holidays to the interior again because something has gone wrong?

Leave the players out of this. Anything to do with admin the club must own it!

There is a patchwork apology on the WT website about the jersey stuffup and a reliable source has told me that they are going to front the media about this today. A bit late for that but is needed.

I said in an earlier post that me being ex military I believe ANZAC Day has become too commercialized and this is a stark reminder of the pitfalls of giving events like this lipservice.

In the past most proceeds from fund raising has gone to wives and families of fallen soldiers. A portion of two-up winnings for example used go to the local sub-branch of the RSL etc. We're slipping away from the meaning of Remembrance.

I noticed in the apology this quote.... "These jerseys will then be auctioned after the match, with all proceeds going to our ANZAC Round matchday charity partner, Legacy"

This I'm happy about. This should be the main focus.

He should drive this point home and also say the buck stops with him and is sorry.

@garry if that’s the case Kent should apologise. To criticise for incompetence is fair game but accusing someone of lying is very poor form.

@tiger5150, I don't troll but I do only scroll. By that I mean, I only check out the recent posts of others and comment (rarely). So, yes, if I was motivated enough to scroll back on the numerous posts you've made, I would have noticed that you did provide explanation for the systemic issues at WT, as you see them. My apologies for suggesting you needed to be more specific.
