We’re looking for input on this one - our best Wests Tigers players that were never picked for state or country?

Todd Payten comes to mind, Ben Galea? Shane Elford? How about a Corey Thompson or Daniel Fitzhenry?

We’ll discuss your answers/nominations on the next pod.

Harder than it looks, even the great Stuart Flanagan represented Hungary.

Payten or Bryce Gibbs for me.

Yeah I reckon just state and nation. Curtis Sironen? Blake Ayshford? Simon Dwyer?

Fulton was the one that came to mind immediately. Probably would have played some sort of rep football if he was able to bulk up a bit more.

Would have been a great #13 in the modern game.

Dwyer would have got there if not for the injury.

Here is a test for everyones memory (more the old Balmain fans)......not answering the rep question but the old player we had who would have made the greatest modern 13 would have been Ben Duckworth.

Ben Galea would have been pretty good too.

In memory of Geoff Chisholm (1965-2022)

Yep, he could have been anything, not sure why his career stalled.

I think he was around at the wrong time. We was small for a lock in those days, played most of '99 at 6 and was actually pretty good (in a very poor Tigers team) but big and slow for a 6 (sound familiar) but too small for the pack in those days. Played 6 games at 6 for WT in their inaugural season.

Poor mans Jason Smith.

Simon Dwyer 100%.

Kid could have been anything.

But Todd Payten, Skando & Mark O'Neil I think should get a mention in that conversation.

I also think Daniel Fitzhenry should be mentioned. He was a pretty good winger. Perhaps not quite up to rep standards but pretty darn close. Held the Wests Tigers record for number of trys scored, until surpassed by Benji. Fitz gets a bad rap at times but I think that is more to do with how Sheens used him out of position when there was no one else to fill a needed spot.

Well this is one from left field … but Mitch Brown was a very decent first grader that didn’t get the accolades he should have. Maybe if he was at one of the big clubs he could have reached rep level.

I agree, underrated. He did well for us at fullback.
