How much involvement does the board have in running the club? I assumed they would appoint a CEO then the CEO runs the club. Even though Pascoe may be a good administrator he has failed to hire specialists the run the football side of the business. The appointment of a Football Director should have occurred long ago, together with more support for the coach, better recruiting and media liaison staff. This is where the board should get involved and question the CEO on why these things are not happening.
it varies across the clubs but to give you an example - in recent times Pascoe has referred publicly to the 'Recruitment and Retention Committee" and I believe that there is board representation on it.
All of the comments so far are very well made. Ultimately I think the people on the board at the moment are grossly underqualified to occupy the role. My personal opinion is that a private ownership model is the only thing that can turn the WT fortunes around.
While private ownership has its benefits, you ultimately become the plaything of someone with a lot of money and exist on their good graces.
How about a public ownership model?
Does that work anywhere?

Green Bay Packers are the only major team I know of - and it works well. But they are also a one team town.
FWIW, i'd much rather have private ownership than our current model. The current owners of our club couldn't care if we win or lose.

What is Roman Abramovich up to these days?
@tiger5150 poisoned unfortunately. The perpetrator is currently unknown but suspected to be either an FSB agent or a member of Wests Ashfield board.

How about something more radical like a hybrid model. Something like the existing structure but 2 Board members are elected by the Membership?
Is apportioning of blame the right path to go down?I believe it can be useful to forensically break down the decisions that have been previously made in order not to repeat them, but pointing the finger especially in the position we find ourselves in is not going to bear fruit.I heard the boys on the podcast agree that given our roster, patience is what we need in 2022 and that was a pre season overview. That is cold comfort at 0-3,but unfortunately I believe the long and the short of it.We need to remain calm and keep cool heads. There we’re good signs coming from the Warriors match even though the result was bitterly disappointing.
Having said all that I believe Ivan Cleary is the black beast here with his signing of the super inflated quartet which we’re still paying for and has arguably set us back half a decade. We pay a hefty price but hopefully learn from it.
Easy one.... Brooks
And yourself ...take some ownership man .....
@helmesy That’s interesting that model .. we would be interested in buying shares and becoming a part owner and would have a say ! Food for thought.
@mike Maybe the time is right the Wests group started investigating options .. if there hearts are not in it they could still have a major stake !
I would be interested in buying a stake in the club if an opportunity was to arise. I would also be interested in running for a board position if that was an option.
