After years of bumbling and fumbling our way through, the chickens are finally coming home to roost.

We’re dead last and even the most optimistic Tigers fan is probably struggling to see how we get out of this.

Who do you apportion the most blame for this dire predicament?

It is the board.

These people in the shadows, they make ALL of the vital decisions.

You only have to look at last years sham of a club review. A decent board would have made sure the review results were at least made public.

A board that is never held accountable by members or fans.

There’s a lot of people to blame. The Board are poison and need to shoulder a lot of the blame. They’re the people who approved the hiring of Taylor and Maguire as coaches and Pascoe as CEO.

The issue we have now, is that they decided to back Maguire at the end of last season and if they sack him now, they will look foolish. They’ve always put their own individual egos in front of what’s best for the club and even now, at rock bottom, they will not do what’s right.

Madge will survive, Pascoe will survive and the board will survive until the club can no longer survive.

WT are like the old Soviet Union, a large group of incompetent people making decisions about things they have no idea about for their own self interest, while pushing out fluff pieces each week to say how well we’re doing.

Hard to argue with any of that.

The Balmain board were incompetent and lost everything due to poor management and demonstrated incompetence.

The Wests Magpies part of the board are natural losers and have been for 30 years, it is ingrained in the magpie. Unfortunately this is rubbing off on wests tigers

Put them both together and they elect muppets and we get this mess

Success comes from the top …after 2 decades and still having 6 home grounds says it all for mine .
The Wests group are not fully invested in the Footy club it seems to

me , as long as the club does not cost the group all that much money it’s all good .

If the Board wanted the club to be successful it would be , the Chairperson would be told and the appropriate tools would be put in place to achieve this goal!

Nothing more evident in the failure and mediocrity of the board was not removing Maguire last season , the board are not interested in being successful as if they were the team would not be on the bottom of the ladder .

I agree. My understanding is that so long as Wests Tigers don't come looking for $s the board lets the CEO run the place as he sees fit. Pascoe, full credit to him, has managed to right the ship financially and that means the board isn't forced to move too often. When the board does get involved it looks as though their perhaps limited knowledge of the game gets in the way, or again, they make decisions based around economic conservatism (ie not paying Madge out).

How much involvement does the board have in running the club? I assumed they would appoint a CEO then the CEO runs the club.  Even though Pascoe may be a good administrator he has failed to hire specialists the run the football side of the business. The appointment of a Football Director should have occurred long ago, together with more support for the coach, better recruiting and media liaison staff. This is where the board should get involved and question the CEO on why these things are not happening.

it varies across the clubs but to give you an example - in recent times Pascoe has referred publicly to the 'Recruitment and Retention Committee" and I believe that there is board representation on it.

All of the comments so far are very well made. Ultimately I think the people on the board at the moment are grossly underqualified to occupy the role. My personal opinion is that a private ownership model is the only thing that can turn the WT fortunes around.

While private ownership has its benefits, you ultimately become the plaything of someone with a lot of money and exist on their good graces.

How about a public ownership model?
