Adam Doueihi discussion

I keep seeing fan and journalist team predictions and Adam consistently doesn’t rate a mention.

It appears that he remains in the good books of Benji and Richo given the quick one year extension he got so you’d think he has the jump on Naden for a centre spot.

He’s a million to one to play in the halves if injuries don’t occur.

Personally, I can’t see him happily playing in NSW Cup for any length of time.

So, what’s your prediction of Doueihi’s 2025 season?

The great unknown really where Adam will end up. It looked like the dragons wanted him. Probably still could go there with Hunt leaving. But it would be a big call on their behalf. I actually think halves is his go, however coming back from 3 reconstructions might just be a bridge too far.

He could be a useful cup #6 that is depth for a couple of positions. We don’t need that but plenty of clubs do. I assume he will train with us all summer and then get picked up before round 1 somewhere else when everyone’s squad is settled

I'm hopeful he moves on and I think Benji is going in a new direction but it is not completely out of the realm of possibility that he ends up being picked at centre

Centre is the only spot for Adam at the Tigers I believe. And I think he is a good centre on his day.

Unless we get multiple halves injuries.

If he sees himself as a half he may have to look elsewhere.

yep I agree he's a centre only but only think he's decent when holding the footy. In defence he's a turnstile

ADs is a bit of an enigma isn’t he? Seems to have a ton of ability & some helpful physical attributes, can have some good games, do some great things & have some poor games & do some awful things. So with that in mind I’ve no idea what to expect from him in 2025. I hope he can play the best footy he’s ever played & I’d think that will only happen at centre.

He is not a system player in my view. His impacts on the game are him as an individual which means it makes his defence worse (lack of coordination) and his positives in attack are not suited to making those around him better.

the best teams in the NRL over the past 15 years have all been teams with strong systems that can give players (and importantly their substitutes) clear roles to execute.

Good point, he certainly is unique.

@helmesy "Unique" is one word for AD. I can think of others based on informed personal instinct, but best not go there.

By the sounds of it Adam was pretty much only water boy at the open training session on Saturday.

Any word on what’s going on with him?

Was chatting to a bloke on Saturday at the training session who said he was a neighbour of Adam's and that he picked up a knock (not to the knee he had done) so was limited re training on Saturday. Also said Adam was keen to get one of the centre spots, had recognized his defense needed work and had been working hard to rectify his issues.

that fits with another conversation I heard about: a trainer asked who'd be goal kicker in rd1 with API out. Answer was Doueihi
