I also notice there are no female members 🤔

There are a few female members on here. At least one is obvious.

I can account for myself as 1 of the female members.

You guys are twisting everything around, maybe there is an agenda at play.

I simply want topics so we can have threads like the examples I've already given, I didn't mention political threads did I 🤔

A place to say happy birthday, a place to offer condolences, a place to offer congrats eg birth of a newborn, a place to talk about fav foods or holiday destinations. When football is dead, so are the conversations.

It's the same half a dozen members talking about club politics and not giving much input into live football threads, pathways etc if you guys want to be technical about it.

Yes I am a new member, so I've been informed, however new members should be listened to because they are the future of your forum... unless of course your happy for this one to sail off into obscurity.

Maybe my expectations of this forum is too high and way off the mark and I don't belong here.

Cheers everyone, some members have been very welcoming on here.

I was only referring to the gun control thread from yesterday.

One of the things we have tried to accomplish here is to not be too forceful on people posting in particular threads. That was my decision and you will probably notice that the signings thread is a general conversation thread and is often off topic, I don't really have an issue with that as I like a free flowing conversation.

If people want me to tighten that up I am more than willing to do that and we can have a more rigid forum. To me that is up to the members here to decide.

@crowsnest I think you can have all of those threads if you want. I believe the limits are on anything political - which gun control would fall under. personally I think that’s fair enough as there is so much room for people to become upset/agitated.

@garry I’m happy with things as they stand at the moment. I can’t see anything that needs to be tightened up or changed.

I have no objection to non-football threads, I always enjoy the Dad Humour thread. However, if a topic title is not to my liking, I simply won’t open it.

jesus crowy the only reason I brought up the fact that you were new was to point out that the traffic is increasing organically but you wouldn’t be aware because you are new. There is no agenda mate. Just relax. This is a friendly place

This is a great community we have all created together, which is really respectful and a safe space, thanks to all of you.

Generally we all self moderate, and the mods haven't had to step in very much - which is fantastic.

Crowy, I deleted the gun control thread yesterday, because we try to keep to the old dinner table rules of not discussing politics or religion, as those discussions become divisive and lead to arguments.

I did say in my private message to you,  that this is first and foremost a footy forum, and there are more appropriate places to discuss gun control.

Sorry, if that comment was misleading, of course there is still space to have other light hearted discussions on other sports or birthdays etc - as long as it doesn't get into the divisive spaces such as religion or politics, which the gun control.

I have really enjoyed it since you have joined crowd and appreciate your efforts in getting discussions going.

I think if we all just try to keep a safe and respectful space by avoiding divisive topics - that way we don't really need rules or mods.

@frullens    With due respects frullens have you read my posts or just picked out bits as others have. I don't give a hoot about gun laws atm, the issue is...Is this forum only for football or is it a community ideas sharing forum.

Some of you are saying if you want to post other stuff like what I've mentioned go ahead and Garry, you say you dont want too mant main topics.

So are you collectively saying that you just throw non footy stuff in Wests Tigers General Discussion. Well that is crazy imo because it would end up a mess. WT general discussion should be about WT and not a forum members 25th wedding anniversary..that should go in a good news topic or the like. Start a main topic under General Discussion called General Discussion (on top of humour topic) for all this non football related stuff, that inturn can have sub topics.

Atm it's set up for footy only except for jokes and entertainment and other sports. Who chose NFL and Cricket to be standalone Topics, I guess that's Garry's fav sports 🙂By the way, I've just read that this issue has been raised ages ago by another member.

My point before it became a debate about how wonderful our little family is, the forum rules doesn't reflect what you want or how it is run.

Take it as you may but someone said the membership is growing..well for the month I've been on here it's 95% of posts are from the same small handful of members, where are all the others. Well I can tell you that I've heard some don't contribute anymore because there's no conversations....and that's my point, the forum is set up to be robotic and not chat about lots of stuff.

I can tell that a lot of you are peeved off with what I said initially and I understand why you've jumped on the band wagon, I understand that because you care about the forum...so do I. That's why I made the initial comment about forum rules.

I'm not the slightest bit angry that my post got deleted. Who cares, there are more important things in my life to worry about such trivial matters.

It's nice to see that a lady responded. If we chatted more I would have known you, like I wouldn't know anything about the rest of the members because there's no chat about anything but football or archives to read about members lives.

I love your jokes mike. 👍

Garry, you say you dont want too mant main topics.

That is actually isn't what I was saying at all. I was just saying that is how most members use this site at present. One of the complaints of the Moderation over at WTF was that it was over moderated and people weren't able to discuss topics organically as they were being told (usually by me) that they were off topic. So we have consciously been a bit more open with that on here to avoid that issue. When we have had more specific threads, they haven't been used as people usually just post in a couple of threads here.

I have actually addressed your concerned and created a subforum for General Discussion.

I don't think anyone is trying to jump on you here, people just see it a little different.

Thankyou Garry, it looks awesome. Rescind my request for withdrawing my membership.....OCD, PTSD and a miriad of other issues caused me to shoot my mouth off.

I'll be a little more tactful in future and I apologise to others I may offended. @frullens@ tiger5150 @tigertownfs

....and my late mum.

Hey @crowsnest I actually think you were making some valid points so I have set up the sub forums that you suggested. It is up to the members on the forum if they wish to use those or not.

I really view this site as one that is dedicated to the wants and the needs of the users, not so much the admin and moderator. There has been very little moderation to do on this site over the past 18 months as the users here pretty much self regulate. If someone has acted outside of the expectation here in the past it is usually discussed here amongst the user fairly well and the need for moderation is usually nonexistent.

No problem mate, I was dealing with my daughter and her friend all day today. 2 loud squealy 9 year old girls, I probably didn't take the time to read your posts properly.

no stress, I wasn’t offended at all. I’m very happy for you to setup whatever topics you like. religion and politics aside because from personal experience I see that more often than not ending in tension and hurt feelings, knock yourself out setting up whatever threads you like and if that grows the community then awesome!

religion and politics

I agree, religion and politics should not be on this forum.

But my missus says WT are like a religion to me, so is that ok?
