Update needed for Forum Rules

As pointed out to me yesterday, this is a football forum. If this is so, can the forum rules be updated to read,  "posts on non-football related matters is not permitted and will be deleted"

I understand my post on Gun Control was not appropriate for this forum so mods please guide us to what is.

I take it anything and everthing not football related will be deleted??? What can you post?? What about birthdays and special events??

There are only a handful of members who use this forum and banter is not happening.

Why can't you promote conversation by putting up some decent sub forum topics to go with Humour and Entertainment like:

  • General Discussion (anything that's happening around the world)
  • Vale (In Memory of)
  • Memorabilia
  • Good news (happy birthdays, New Year, best wishes etc)
  • Hobbies
  • Health

If you put these types of topics up permanently you will get more members and conversations happening.

Atm it's dead. When the tigers aren't doing much we need to talk about something else. If members can't do that, they will go somewhere else. This is why we don't have many members on here. They come and have a look, see nothing and the leave. Other forums are flourishing because there is a lot on offer.

I'm not leaving because we have some nice members on here like Mike, Garry, Jedi Tiger etc but we need more. I also notice there are no female members 🤔

Thankyou

P.S. Can we get step by step instructions on how to post pictures. After several attempts I still can't wirk it out.

There are a few female members on here. At least one is obvious.

Personally I like the feel of this place and I’m not concerned that it’s not huge. I like the little community where you get to know everyone. It is also fairly new so will build slowly especially if the team isn’t going well.

Crowy, you are new and I know you mean well and have the best intentions. One thing I think you might not realise is that this forum is still very new and still growing organically. The member numbers are growing and for those of us who have been here for a while, we can see that the volume of conversation and traffic is growing pretty quickly.

As far as I know threads on general topics are not banned here, I remember a recent one of GP racing, these threads will come about organically if people want to talk about them. From what I know, politics is banned here and I am grateful for that because at the the other forum it generated some horribly spiteful discussion that truly poisoned some relationships and environments over there (I was involved in that). Speaking only for myself and not for the rest of the forum or mods, but I am more than willing to trade off volume for civility and not having politically charged topics maintains the civility that I appreciate here.

So far this forum IMO has been able to walk the line allowing and enabling differing opinions with people maintaining respect. I enjoy and appreciate it and hope it continues.

I'm aware how to post mate, I started the GP thread. If you read my post I was referring to topics other than football.

I'm not going to debate each point, my observations are written. It's not meant to belittle the forum but an attempt to get conversation happening.

The mods started discussing updating the forum rules last night. Not having sub forums forums for political issues was a conscious decision by the admin to help maintain a positive environment here. Political threads and contentious issues have been an issue on other sites.

If anyone has any suggestions around the forum rules or the moderation around this site please put them in this thread and the mods and admin will discuss as we make these changes.

I read your post. The GP thread was non football related, as is this one and the music one.

I strongly agree that politics should be kept off this website. My observation on the other site was that political debate often became acrimonious and that feeling spilled over into the other threads.

That is the exact reason why we have limited the range of sub forums on this site.

You guys are twisting everything around, maybe there is an agenda at play.

I simply want topics so we can have threads like the examples I've already given, I didn't mention political threads did I 🤔

A place to say happy birthday, a place to offer condolences, a place to offer congrats eg birth of a newborn, a place to talk about fav foods or holiday destinations. When football is dead, so are the conversations.

It's the same half a dozen members talking about club politics and not giving much input into live football threads, pathways etc if you guys want to be technical about it.

Yes I am a new member, so I've been informed, however new members should be listened to because they are the future of your forum... unless of course your happy for this one to sail off into obscurity.

Maybe my expectations of this forum is too high and way off the mark and I don't belong here.

Cheers everyone, some members have been very welcoming on here.

Garry please remove/delete my forum membership or do I have to email the request?
