@tiger-symmetry yea maybe that’s true ! But it was only in response to the constant revisionist history around him . It might have been an over reaction , but to be fair I tried to explain it politely , and then tried it more bluntly .
Either way I never attacked the person posting . called anyone stupid for thier ideas .
I am now though .
and I find it absolutely hypocritical and borderline offensive that the 5 years plus of the same people across both forums saying whatever they wanted about brooks , are the same ones carrying on about Hastings.
It just shows a real inability from grown men to have an actual conversation , without being obnoxious , childish and whatever negative emotion when they don’t get their own way .
But to your point you’re right I shouldn’t have said he was shit . Because he isn’t . But he isn’t great either .
Edit ; Deleted both above posts because I’m pretty annoyed at the narrative twisting going on here .
Just for clarification He’s either the great white hope or he’s not .
because that’s what the whole argument was originally about .
It was never about how good he was! It was about the club being hammered for making the wrong choice re. Hastings .
And I’ve posted countless posts about why I believe that isn’t the case .
That’s all I’m going to say anymore .
The hypocrisy is pathetic IMO . I will remember this convo mike and Celtic , the next time you hammer AD and who ever you scapegoat next year or whenever we lose .
Enough of the personal stuff guys.
In memory of Geoff Chisholm (1965-2022)
Interesting fact came out of an interview with Hastings after the game yesterday where he had to go off after reinjuring his ankle. He said its an ongoing injury from last year and will be recurring for the rest of his life. Its quite possible that this factored in the Tigers decision to move him on.
Very poor from the Tigers if that is the case. Making him play 9 where he wasn’t suited resulting in an injury. So they say see you later. Not exactly how to build a winning culture.Interesting fact came out of an interview with Hastings after the game yesterday where he had to go off after reinjuring his ankle. Seems to be drawing a long bow to try to flog the club Mike. Its not unreasonable for any half to fill in at hooker. He never started a game at hooker or the bench for Tigers. He played 25 games off the bench for Roosters and Manly in which he would have played time at dummy half. He started games at Wigan at 9. It is not unreasonable to expect him to fill in at dummyhalf. Injuries happen.
Also Tigers didnt say "see you later". Hastings signed a Contract with Newcastle for after his Tigers Contract, Knights asked if he could go early and Tigers said OK. Tigers didnt push him out. Whether they should have stopped him going early is a different question.

Are you being serious?
The club let him go a year early because he was leaving anyway. It’s been made clear they were going to play him as a 13 with AD and Brooks as the halves when all fit. He wanted to play 7 we had other combos in mind.
I did say if. If it is true I stand by my comment. That is not the way to build a winning culture.Very poor from the Tigers if that is the case. Yes in response to the post. If that, and I did say if, was part of the consideration then yes I think it is very poor of the club. Are you being serious?

Fair enough I didn’t see the if part.

If its true that Hastings ruptured syndesmosis is a life long and ongoing injury, prone to recurrence as Hastings said yesterday, can you imagine the furore with fans if they knew that newcastle wanted him but we didnt let him go and he busted it here?
I dont think it is poor of the club to allow Hastings to leave early, knowing he had a significant injury risk. That is Newcastles and Hastings risk to take. I do think it is poor of the club (with 20:20 hindsight) to let him go without adequate cover. In hindsight we should have kept Madden IMO.
@tiger5150 agree ! Madden is the one that we should be talking about . But even then , i heard we did offer him a contract , and he decided to look elsewhere as it was for 1st drop .
I mean if Penrith , the tigers and broncos are offering the same role I’d take the broncos offer too .
He as I said is a little different , as no one was offering him a first grade position . Even us .
hard to blame the club on that one . Many will and have . Hard to turn around to your 600k 6 and 1 mil half and say Madden is playing first grade . We probably should have in hindsight , but I’m not sold the madden exit is 💯 on the club .
Im not talking about Hastings anymore . People can’t be rational for whatever reason.
Well, maybe the people are more rational than you are, and that's the reason?@tiger5150 agree ! Madden is the one that we should be talking about . But even then , i heard we did offer him a contract , and he decided to look elsewhere as it was for 1st drop .

Letting Hastings go with a potential re-occurring injury and he was going anyway was good roster management given potential injury risks.
What was not good management was we had no cover outside of Douhie and Brooks.
@mercy-rule lol whatever dude! I’ve rationalised my thinking 100 times . Both in constructive ways and antagonistic ways .
So many pots calling kettles black on here . It’s hilarious!
