I love using Spotify and being able to listen to any song, practically anywhere I am, but there was a joy to actually going out and buying an Album/CD.
Spotify is great for finding anything you want but kids these days are missing out. The joy of going to a record store and buying a new album without knowing if you’re going to enjoy every track. The anticipation of waiting for a new album to drop and stores staying open to midnight so you could get that new release immediately. I’ve still got crates of CDs out the back, some good, some bad but all bring back memories when I look at the covers.
I still buy CDs and Vinyl, listen to a lot of Vinyl at home. I rip my CDs to flac files and have about 7000 songs on my phone that I play when out and about. just put on shuffle and have random songs from my collection play mostly. I have so many recording of Pearl Jam, Metallica, Soundgarden and other bands live shows it is a little embarrassing lol
Am I being old and grumpy, but are there no great Bands around now. That you can follow and see play live. The last 3 shows ive been to are Muse,Foo Fighters and Gorillaz.... all well and truly towards the end of their run.

Was it Pearl Jam who released a recording of every show they did on a tour in the early 2000s?
Still do to this day, but the 2003 tour had heaps of them released in music stores. I literally have 100s of live Pearl Jam shows.

I remember listening to one at a friends around that time and him explaining it was the show he was at. Great concept
I had this Woodstock video I’d watch constantly as a teenager. So many great performances

Another one from the Woodstock doco. Bit of a story behind it. Richie Havens ended up playing a 3hr + set because the next band hadn’t arrived and they were trying to keep the crowd entertained while they worked out what they were going to do. He’d run out of songs so just jammed this one on the spot using lines from songs his mother sang him as a child.

Strong rumours that these guys are going to headline Knotfest as part of the legacy tour
for the brothers
I’ve been waiting for this tour to hit Australia. Still great memories from seeing them as a 15 year old.

Somehow I missed the time of The Weakerthans, a Canadian band, who released stuff about 12 years ago, then disbanded. The band was led by John K Samson who then went on to record a solo album called Winter Wheat in 2016. Truly wonderful music. IMO.

Had a listen Weakerthans this morning was a nice listen. Funny that John is originally the bassist in this band. Very different sounds.

I would think that would be a pretty fun show, despite them not really being my cup of tea.

Saw them last year at Good Things and they bring so much energy even a few costume changes. It’s pretty fun stuff. And we get to dance and go in the pit all at the same time 🤣

This is such an underrated Led Zepplin song. Never gets the love it deserves:

@the-last-ronin I love Going to California so much. Over the Hills and Far Away would probably be my favourite Zeppelin song
